HERBOLOGY, WITH A TOUCH OF RUDENESS → HARRY POTTER
It was that time of year, again. School had started and things were starting to feel boring again for the Fabray. She’d been at Hogwarts for six years now, and coming from a family full of witches and wizards, she was no novice when it came to magic. With her sister having finished at Hogwarts a few years ago, she’d seen all that Frannie had needed to do, and had spent some time watching and paying attention to what she’d been doing. With her eidetic memory, it meant that Layla was able to recall what Frannie had done year before, and apply it to her own education. She was doing well, but she wanted a little excitement in her life.
Wandering through the corridors to get to her next class, Layla headed towards the greenhouses. Herbology wasn’t something that she was overly interested in, but it seemed to be a good enough class to take, and since she’d done well in it for her OWLs, it made sense that she’d continue it on into her sixth year, and was planning for it to be part of her NEWTs too. Her father wasn’t completely impressed with the thought, since he’d wanted her to focus mainly on Potions and more ‘idealistic’ subjects that would aid the family better, but that was for Quinn to do. She was the golden child of the family after all, and Layla could just do as she pleased.
Reaching the greenhouse, Layla quickly changed her robes and slipped into her spot on the bench. It wasn’t ideal, but she didn’t have much of a choice, and ended up sandwiched between two Gryffindors. One of them she didn’t really know, but the other she recognised to be Logan Anderson. There had been a history of bad blood between the two families, especially their fathers, and she knew that she wasn’t meant to be spending any amount of time with them. It was bad enough sharing a bench with him, let alone actually having to have discussions with him in class.
Layla was more than capable of getting through the class without discussions, and even more capable of doing any kind of group projects on her own, so upon hearing that group work was going to be essential for the year, and that students of the same house wouldn’t be in the same group, the blonde rolled her eyes. Not only did she have to participate, but it wouldn’t even be with her friends. Brilliant. The professor read out the list of names for each group, and being put in a group with Logan and a Ravenclaw didn’t stand too well with her.
“Look, I can just do this work on my own and put your names on it, really. It doesn’t have to be a group thing and you can get a good grade without doing any work. I’d rather not spend my time with traitors.” She stated, her eyes moving over to the Gryffindor as she said it.
