    Athenodora had been reading or atleast earlier     she had been. Now she was sat with her gaze     firmly fixated on what was happening beyond     the window panes. The streets seemed more     alive today than ever. A gentle smiled touched     her lips before she’d even heard the door opening.         “Wasn’t expecting you today,         I hope you have good news.”

      Athenodora knew it was risky, reckless, perhaps even       stupid to wonder from the tower. But she was dreadfully       bored and there wasn’t another member of the guard in       sight so she took full advantage of a taste for freedom.                   Only she didn’t go far.             She never did.

            It was further than yesterday, or the day before so she             was pleased of sorts. Footsteps. Every muscle froze in             deathly fear of whom they might belong to. Somewhere             it saddened her that she was afraid of straying.

      “Why are you here?”
