It had felt good to be back out on the field and doing some of the heavy lifting. The fan fair for Mecha man's return in the new suit was just icing on the cake. Primarily Robert was still a dispatcher, and he didn't mind that, but when it came down to it? he would try to handle both jobs at once.
The suit allowed him the computing power to have SDN's systems in a mobile device. He could lead his team and direct them from the ground level. Hacking was a little harder what with piloting the suit but with visuals and sometimes being a part of the job, he found he needed to do it less often.
A Monitor lights up, local news is covering a story of a Kaiju sighting off the coast.
"Z-team, once you handle your current objectives head to HQ, then come to my location"
He will just hold it off until backup arrives, make sure it doesn't venture far onto mainland to cause some serious damage. He knew it wasn't a jo he could handle himself. Knew i was risky dealing with something the size of a building. But he also knew he was the only one without his hands tied.
Things escalated far more quickly than he could have anticipated. One moment he is flying around the Kaiju, keeping a consistent barrage of explosives and energy weapons to keep it's attention on him, the next the Mecha suit is hurtling to the ground from an unseen attack.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck!"
His heart races as the optics show all the intricate details of the ground getting closer. Takes his eyes off the screen to quickly deploy countermeasures. First he tries to get his legs beneath him but what ever struck him was still against his back. The suit cannot move, so he does all he can do and braces for impact.
The suit was designed to keep him safe even with impact damage like falling from the sky, but the impact jarred him and he is suddenly bathed in red lights.
Every monitor screams there's something else wrong, first thing he needs is visuals. Visor lifts just in time to see the tail sweeping his way. Strikes the suit and sends it tumbling end over end until it lands on its back. Main motor functions weren't working, he had to reroute power from auxiliary functions and weapons just to get power where it needed to.
[DANGER]
No surprises, he doesn't have to look he simply powers up his shields for what was most certainly the Kaiju's breath attack. His Visor fills with orange and blue lights as a focused beam streams against his shields, and all he can do is watch the percentage of his shields power drop at alarming rates.
He's too focused on the current problem to deal with the new one. Too distracted to feel the ground rumble as the Kaiju approaches during its onslaught. The beam stops and before he can breath a sigh of relief, to his horror the monitors in his mech lurch at him.
"No no no Fuck!"
It wasn't just the monitors, it was the whole chest cavity being crushed in on him, he could hear the protest of the steel skeleton slowly bend in on him, the red lights flicker, his visuals are gone and he is bathed in darkness as he screams over the straining steel, waiting for the end he knew he was piloting towards sooner or later, and still unable to face it.
Squeezed his eyes shut, his breath was quick and shallow, desperate to get just one more breath in before the end... and he still breathed. The noise was gone, distant rumbles shook his suit. Was it... leaving? did other hero's arrive to drive it off? he doesn't dare get too comfortable in the idea he's safe, he cannot move, he cannot see. For all intensive purposes, he's in a steel coffin.
Ragged breaths lurched out from the creature’s maw as he looked around in a daze, afraid. All he could see was a cramped, narrow space ahead, the concrete walls grimy and slick with an unidentifiable substance. A few circular caged lights clung to the walls, emitting a sickly green glow, but not much more than a faint notion of light.
Crouched in a frightened stance, craven, Phil slowly padded forward a few steps on all fours. He was soaked, as if he’d been submerged in water before waking. He whimpered, giving himself a shake and sniffing at the humid, horribly hot air.
Someone was nearby... But who?
Then, when he saw Nen approaching just as dazed, he let out a garbly scream, whipping around and trying to run back in the opposite direction, clawing at his dead end wall.
lovedboth liked your post “starter call for Klaus! (length will vary by mood)”
“Queen of hell? now that title I believe has been taken too far.” Klaus replied stepping close towards the brunette he would want to cross paths with her one way or another.
Mikey had shied away from every Overwatch agent on base. Talon was scary and he didn’t trust this group either, even if they got him away from the other group. The british girl was too loud, the guy in the visor was too intimidating, and he wasn’t even going to look at gorilla. He wanted to go home but there was no home to go to. Talon had dispatched his family quickly while he was in the hospital. All he could do was cry in his room and hope something good came along.
@warwaited
“Heeey, Robert? I figured out why that Silverstone guy came back from being “dead”. Also, uh, related, I killed the Silverstone guy. But not for real. It’s- complicated. Can we meet up?”
As far as he knows? Xue isn't on any kind of hard drugs. Perhaps she suffers some sort of delirium from staying up too late, maybe the stress of being a hero finally got to her... or, worse than all of that, Xue was perfectly sane and everything she was saying was true.
@sdnshouldpaymemore Rolled for initiative and got...

Dale, was public relations. By that it was Robert's impression that meant he was supposed to make SDN look good. What Robert did not fully understand was that meant Dale sometimes needed to make SDN look good, and some times that meant distancing themself from bad PR.
The team had fucked up, on a monumental level. Coms were a nightmare, no one could decide on a course of action and the result? Dozens injured and a jewelry store threatening to sue.
"Hey!"
He saw Dale from across the bullpen was he supposed to be in today? No, Robert was partially to blame as Dispatcher on duty, he was supposed to be suspended for the week. That was probably why Dale looked a little surprised.
"Who's side are you on?!"
