Hi! What led you to study Marathi? What do you like most about the language? What would you recommend someone to watch who has never heard Marathi spoken before? I love your blog and wishing you the best! 🫶🏻
I'm a native speaker of Marathi, but I only know it at a conversational, not literary level. I figured if I'm going to be such a language nerd, I'd might as well upgrade my Marathi skill too, and that somehow led to me making this blog.
It's hard to determine what I like the most about this language, because it's my native language and I suppose we all say the same things about our native languages (such as that it has a beautiful sound, for example). But if you pressed me, I think it's the retroflex consonants (ड ट ण ळ, for example) in Marathi that I think make it such a fun language to speak.
I don't dip into Marathi media too much because I find it hard to find stuff I really like, but I can recommend a bunch of movies in another post! Right now, I'll leave a recommendation for वाळवी [vāḷvī] (Vaalvi / "Termites"), a black comedy thriller that I enjoyed a lot.
Go into it blind, don't look up the plot or anything.
And thank you so much for your kind words about my blog! I hope to be more active on it myself!
