False Hope
A month ago I was on vaca in Mexico with The Oldies. I met a great guy one night. He is from Canada, he was super cute, and knew all the right things to say...and do.
We spent an amazing night on the beach. Way too cheesy for my normal taste. Waves crashing, thunder and lightning in the distance, stars and palm trees. A. MAZE. ING.
When I left all I got was a wave and goodbye. I was so mad at myself for not running after him and hugging and kissing him farewell. But it is what it is.....or so I thought.
Then I receive an email from LinkedIn that says that someone named John, from the Winnipeg area, that works at CNR, has viewed my profile. I was so dumbfounded that I couldn't eat lunch. (That's kind of a big deal for me.)
I wanted to contact him immediately! So after some technical difficulties with the app, the phone, and the website I successfully contacted John. I request to "connect" to him. He responds immediately. Then I send him a message asking how he found me with only my first name, state, and occupation. (My multiple social media and Google searches with the same info were an epic fail.)
He responds and says that he doesn't think that he is who I think he is!!! You have GOT to be kidding me.
How could it be that a man with the same first name, lives in the same city, AND has the same job is not the same guy that blew my mind on a beach in Mexico!!! HOW???
Huge fricking coincidence! Now this is just a random dude with amazing similarities to a guy I met on a random vacation.
And keep in mind that this random person viewed my profile first!!! That means this similar person randomly viewed a random girl thousands of miles away who lives in Kansas and has the same occupation as me.
Possibilities:
1) this really is a huge coincidence and two random people found each other by pure accident in a world where you can find anyone
2) it is him. he didn't know I was going to be able to see that he found me but has no desire to talk to me
3) it is him. he's married, has a girlfriend or is otherwise unavailable but didn't want to say it in Mexico or now (and I did ask him)
4) it is him. he saw my pic and thought that his beer goggles were on the night we met
All of these possibilities suck. It would be my luck that I thought an amazing guy would try to find me after one crazy spontaneous night on vacation.
This is the way my life goes.
Emmy.
