Goosebumps — Ruki & Kougyoku
-- Ruki barely had a liking for ghost stories nor had he ever gone out of his way to listen to one. He found it foolish to the core and he knew that it was just a concept devised by adults to keep their children from going there or doing this. He was never an easy mark to the jitters of the spirits of the dead. Be that as it may, earlier that morning, most of his classmates had been chattering with such passion to each other about the ghostly tales pervading the garden next to the high walls of the university. These stories had been going around all day that the eldest Mukami suddenly felt the dearth of confirmation in respect to these stories himself.
Perhaps if he could confirm to them that those preposterous fantasies they've been scattering around were nothing but stories, they would finally shut up about it. 'Hopefully.' He thought to himself followed by a weary sigh as he wound up at St. Orwell Garden, willfully selecting the dead hour of the night which was usually the hour set in those stories he had overheard.
The area was enveloped in absolute gloom saved for the light the moon had granted him and the small pocket flashlight he held in his hand. Nobody else was around which justified the fact that most people were far too terified to enter the garden upon hearing those so-called daunting stories. He had tried persuading Kou to go with him but tonight was one of those nights where the blond's schedule was unfortunately packed.
'I do seem to have a lot of time in my hands considering I am able to do this.' Ruki frowned in embarrassment, realizing how ridiculous he probably looked right now trying to determine if the ghosts were real or not. He abruptly put an end to his steps when he caught sight of an unfamiliar young girl just far up ahead. Since his flashlight wasn't as bright as he preferred, it was hard to tell what the girl was doing. Could she be one of those ghosts people had been talking about?
"Oy...!" Ruki called out to her. "What are you?"
