Day 11 of 30
Alright, I did some shading practice! These are darker on my paper than the scanner makes them out to be (darn technology) but what do you all think? I used a technique where instead of shading dark first and then light (as I had been), I tried shading light first and then darkening. I think it turned out better for it.

And now for some digital drawing! In case you didn’t know, I’m spearheading the @gffanshorts project, and currently working on storyboards for it. So I did a lot of that today, and tried my “hand” at making a hand! It’s supposed to be Mabel...I don’t know if you can tell?

Sorry it’s taking me a while to upload my drawings! But I’ve been getting them done. Here’s a flower that I drew, trying to sketch out the face and then shading the stem with a tortillon.

I am so sorry for this.
At least I can see now where I need practice...drawing faces and human figures! If I’m going to get anywhere near my ultimate goal of CalArts, I’m going to need to practice more.
In the meantime, if you have more experience than I do, I’d love to have your critiques and tips.

Today I decided to go with something small. I used my tortillon to try and shade this...thing. I meant for it to be a pipe against a background. Really I was just trying to explore and see how I could use a tortillon and eraser.

Decided to switch gears and try designing a cartoon! This is based on my plush fox named Sir Socks. What do you all think of him? I’m considering trying to put him in some kind of short comic...

Whew! I shaded that outline from Day 2, and here it is! I also started using a tortillon, and I think it turned out well. Please, leave me any critiques/tips you think may be helpful.

I didn’t have access to a scanner yesterday, so here is my drawing now! It’s an endtable, yaaaaay. I tried to tweak the contrast and brightness a bit to better capture the shading I did.
Along the top, I tried going without a hard outline. What do you all think?
