Today was the day of a “new life” as Levi had been told many times since he had gotten the news of his adoption. Though the little boy didn’t seem at all amused with the idea of living with someone he didn’t know. But then again, Levi never seemed to care much about anything that had to do with the people at the orphanage.
He was scared of adults and wanted nothing to do with them. So when they spoke to him he refused to talk, he just stared forward and drew his knobby knees closer to his body.
But when he was told to get ready he slowly got out of bed and put on the new outfit the orphanage had bought him. It was too big on his too tiny body. Shyly he wandered out of his room and flinched when one of the women greeted him. She lead him to the front, knowing that his new family would be there soon. Though the whole time Levi tried to move away from her, having bad memories of the old adults in his life.
When they got to the front he looked around nervously, playing with his fingers as he took in deep breaths. He was terrified and didn’t want anything to do with his new family. Slowly he looked around and let out a small whine when he spotted someone walking in the front door. Levi hid behind the wall and whimpered when the lady came closer to him. He shook his head and stumbled backwards.
“Levi, it’s okay. Your new family is here to meet you.” She said in a sweet voice.
The raven slowly stared up at her with terrified eyes. He didn’t want a new family. He wanted to be back in his room playing alone with his toys. But he nearly screamed when she grabbed his hand gently and took him from behind the wall.
“Are you Mr. Arlert?” She asked, smiling at the man who had walked in the front door.
Levi stepped behind her, his body shaking badly. He didn’t want to be with someone he didn’t know. Even though he hated most of the people that worked at the orphanage, at least they were familiar.
