Vamptober Day 20: Chihana, “Blood Blossom”

And finally my geisha vampire~ I really need to do more with her, since her shtick is a little bit different from the rest of my vampires. Being that she’s more closely classed as an energy or magi-tarian vampire instead of a sanguinarian. She does best when she feeds from the chi of her fellow Kirin, or the innate magic of non-Kirin. In my Kirin of Neighpon headcanon, chi is the magical life-force that bestows the species its magical power and passive abilities. They can live without it, but they would rather not. Just as she can make do feeding off physical blood, but would rather not.

It was bound to happen. The collision of my two great creative loves: Vampires and Kirin. Kind of shocking it didn’t happen sooner, really. cx

Lady Chihana is the bridge between my Kirin of Neighpon and my Vampire Ponies. Born of high-content Phoenix, low-content Turtle and Tiger parents, she had begun geisha training but never completed it before making a pact with a darker force to extend her youthfulness forever. In order to maintain her youth, however, she must feed off the chi, or occasionally actual blood, of the mortal.  While chi is able to be translated as “blood”, chi in Neighpon is more akin to the magical life forces flowing through the body that give the Clans their elemental affinities. Its Equestrian counterpart is the ponies’ racial magic. Losing chi is not necessarily deadly, at least not directly, but it is severely weakening.

Chihana does have fangs, but they are due to Tiger ancestry only. They’re small and useless compared to the larger fangs of Equestrian vamponies. On the rare occasion she does find herself needing physical blood, she employs a tanto/kaiken to make the incision. Absorption of chi is purely through her horn-antler.  Despite never completing formal training, she fell in love with the looks, grace, and skill of geisha, and continues to dress as the apprentice geisha do, with patterned kimono and heavier makeup. She did master the arts in time, and entertains foreigners in the port cities.

Vamptober 2018 - Day 8: Vampire!Autumn Blaze

And I can’t leave out flagship canon Kirin, Autumn! I’ve obviously drawn her more than any other but she’s the only one I really like so much, seeing as how the others don’t talk for the duration of the episode, and I haven’t found one whose color scheme I just adore. xD

So a little bit on vampire!Kirin; those who know me (and manage to keep track of individuals in my OC horde!) know I have a couple of my own Kirin of Neighpon who are vampiric. Instead of feeding on blood they drain life force, or chi, by locking horn-antlers with or touching the forehead of the victim. The same holds true for the canon Kirin! Slightly different from my own lore, is that vampiric canon Kirin get markers of their Nirik form: Elongated fangs, their horn-antler in a stage between the normal and Nirik form, and the pointed dewclaws. Their irises also turn silver, with an outer ring of their former eye color, and their pupils become their former iris color or a darker shade thereof.

Sunless Entry

I have added a basic overview and story for the Sunless Universe, but as that series is very much on-going, and delayed by Kirin and Lying not uploading, it is incomplete. When there are more episodes of more series, I will update it to include new information. Until then enjoy!
