Everyone is different, some more than others. some to the point of being pushed out of society.
People are born different, a way to distinguish each other in a world full of similar faces. They have different traits, habits, and activities. Some come from wealth, while others aren’t as fortunate. On the other hand there are people who have the ability to love forever, yet they hate going in the sun. They think differently from the rest; they live a life far away from humanity. Well they didn’t have a choice either way, a lot of people don’t like when things are different, so they pushed those differences away.
One little boy wanted to see what humanity was like, outside of the forest they lived in. His elders edged him not to go, telling him stories that the outside people were scary. Saying the people on the outside would kill him the second they saw him smile, the split second they saw him with something bright red in his mouth, the split second he would walk out of the forest, he would be as good as gone.
He was young, and curiosity got the best of him and one night he snuck out when no one was looking. The young boy walked out to the edge of the forest, when he took the first step out of the trees, no one was waiting for him like the stories he heard. No one there was ready to kill him like the elders’ stories.
“Hello!” He called out, and no answer came back. Just the sounds of the soft wails of the wind–
“Anyone there?!”
The young boy's body shook when he heard a soft little girl's voice. It came from the right side, but what if he looked and he was dead. The elders would be right. He had to see, he was curious.
The young vampire boy slowly turned his head to the sound. Seeing a girl walk out of the same woods he came from. ‘Is she also like me? I have never seen her.’ The young vampire dark green eyes opened wide, he was about to take a step forward when he heard another sound.
“{Y/n}! Where are you my dear?” A loud voice called, it belonged to a woman, a mother. The little girl who was to his right was no longer there.
“{Y/n}?” He repeated, turning back to the forest. “What a pretty name.”
The young vampire didn’t get a good look at the little girl. He barely saw a glimpse of her face, but the image he had of her was spectacular. The way the moonlight cast down upon her silhouette, illuminating her small frame. It made her look like an angel. Her voice, it was soft and sweet even with just two words he heard, he knew he wanted to hear more of it. This girl was different, that’s what drew him to her.

“He’s so hot!” A group of girls squealed out as they all held hands in a circle. Red adorning their faces as a certain someone walked passed them.
“Thank you ladies,” He took one of the ladies hands, planting a small kiss on her knuckles. “You all yourself look stunning under the moon.” All the girls blushed when he complement them, hiding there face from the embarrassment
Otoya Eita, the vampire everyone loves… Well almost every female vampire has had feelings for him at one point. There was one person he couldn’t get wrapped around his fingers, he tried his best but she would always steer away from him. At least she tried to.
“Otoya, they are calling for you.”
This was the one.
“Hello to you too, beautiful,” He took her hand, kissing her on the knuckles just as he did with the other girl who was swooning over him.
“I’m not like the others you have wrapped around your fingers. In fact if the elders didn’t want me as the secretary, then I would have never met you, and that is how I wished it was.” She turned on her heels, walking as they clinked in the wooden steps to the elders.
“Come on, Elise,” Otoya followed behind her to the building. “You don’t have to do that to me.”
“That’s the only thing that brings me joy is wishing you weren’t here. But I must as that is my job, and I take it seriously.” Elise, she was in charge of keeping everything smooth on the ground, just as the elders instructed her. She was a smart woman and she took pride in that, just when Otoya was around it was like the pride was washed away from his stupidity.
She held open the door for Otoya. “Thank you, Elise.” He bowed to her before entering the building with the high elders.
All the five elders were sitting in their chairs, high from everybody else. One stood out, he was in the middle with the highest chair out of everybody. The one with the most respect from the other.
“Do you want to shed some light on us?” One came down from their chair, standing to the left of him. “Being honest would be the best option for you, Eita.
These five were the only people who got to call him by his first name, he couldn’t say anything about it, and he hated it.
Otoya Eita wasn't just any normal person in the tribe; he was one of the few who got the blessing from the elders. With that he had to be watched like a hawk. Even with the blessing, this wasn’t the only reason he was treated with some sort of respect. His parents were unknown, which led to him being taken in by the elders. They were like his parents, while other people feared them, he didn’t cause he saw their true side.
“What do you want me to say?” He shrugged his shoulders, putting his hands in his pockets.
“Who is this girl?” The elders ask, leaning forward in his chair. His elbow resting on his thigh with his head in his palm as he looked down at the boy.

“I passed!!” A teenage girl was jumping up and down. Looking at a paper you have read about three times now. You shoved it in your friend's face as if this was new news. “Look Tabito!”
“Calm down,” Karasu Tabito, your best friend, laid one his hand on your shoulder preventing you from jumping anymore. “I’m glad for you.” With his other hand, he pushed your glasses up to the bridge of your nose, a smile on his face seeing how happy you were.
“Now we can put every ounce of our time to research and college!” You gave him a warm smile, holding his hand in yours as a promise.
He softly laughs, “Yes we can. I’ll help you with anything you need, {Y/n}.” He lets go of your hand to ruffle your hair, making it more of a mess than it already was from the relentless stress.
A lot of people at school never knew why Karasu, one of the best-looking guys in high school, chose to associate himself with someone like you. The girl who wasn’t the prettiest, someone who didn’t stand out in a crowd of women in heels and makeup. Yet, for some reason he clung to you as if you were gold the crow was looking for in a place full of lifeless pieces.
Now the two of you were going to college together, fulfilling another promise the both of you made when you were young. One more step close to a bigger moment.
The two of you walked down the halls to your lockers, which were right next to each other (as requested by Karasu). Stares followed the both of you as you walked closer today, they weren’t normal stares, they were full of jealousy and Karasu wanted to protect your innocent life as if already didn’t know everything.
“We’re going to college together, Tabito. Can you believe that?” You couldn’t stop thinking back on the paper; you have been accepted into your dream college with little pay.
“And you better not leave me behind when people praise you, {Y/n}.” He pointed a finger right in front of your cheek, lightly tapping it when you turned to him, “If you do then…”
“There is no ‘no ifs’,” You cut him off, “We will stick together. Remember, if you aren't there, then it is no dream of mine.”
“Aww, well aren’t you the sweetest, {Y/n}.” Karasu tried his best to act nonchalant, but on the inside his head and heart was completely melting. He knew you shared the same dream, you have always been with him and vice versa. Hearing you say it aloud did something to him, made him feel like he was the only man on earth meant for you, as if he could defeat the world if anything came in your path. With you he felt like he was at home, and that was going to be cherished forever between you two. That's what he wanted.
He drops you off at your apartment door, saying your goodbye and goodnight. You watch him as he goes to the elevator before you walk back to your home. You dump your bag at the door, taking off your shoes as you stumble in your apartment.
You lay face first on the couch, taking off your glasses to set them on the coffee table. With a heavy sigh, your eyes naturally close; it’s been a long day and you wanted it to be over. With all the exams this past week, you deserved a nice long rest on the couch.

“What girl?” Otoya mumbled to himself, walking out of the elders temple. “There is no human girl,” He kicks the dirt under his feet. “No one at all.”
He walks to his little home that was made just for him. He lays on the couch, taking out his phone to see if anything exciting was happening. It was all the same old news, both for the vampires and humans.
“I just want to see a human again.”
“I just want to see a vampire again.”
Vampires were aware of humans, they knew more about humans than humans did about vampires. They hid themselves from the world, but they weren’t distant from it. Sure, vampires lived in forests and humans lived in cities, but that didn’t mean they were completely cut off from each other.
Not enough brain to pass around, yet one guy seems reliable enough to hire
Current time
You looked in the mirror, deciding if you wanted to wear the outfit you had picked. It was simple, yet looked like you knew how to spend money. You held two heels up, deciding again if this outfit was the right pick for either of the heels. Placing the heels back on the ground, you decided this was not the right outfit for the day.
*knock knock*
You looked at the door of your apartment, your [e/c] eyes then traveled to the clock on your counter. ‘He’s a little early.’ You thought as you answered the door, letting him inside your humble abode.
“My finest pardon, my lady. But we need to be leaving soon,” Karasu bowed down to you like a knight serving it’s duty. A smirk on his face when he saw you.
“Cut the crap, Tabito.” You smack him in the back of his head, “Go watch Tv on the couch while I get ready.”
He rubbed where you hit him, his lips pursed together. “Fine, then.” He mumbled, but clearly didn’t waste time walking to your couch. “You are already dressed, why are you not ready?” He asked while flipping through what to watch.
“I don’t like this outfit.” You stated, closing your bedroom door.
Karasu turned around, seeing you already back in your room. He got up from the couch, standing outside your door. He laid his right hand up against the door, his forehead pressed up against. “You always look pretty in anything you wear.”
That's what he wanted to say, but he was too anxious to say it out loud to you. Every time he wanted to compliment you, it never came out as such, but you never took it to heart. Karasu wanted so hard for his words to come out as he wanted. When he looks at you his brain becomes a pile of mush.
You open your bedroom door, Karasu leaned forward but quickly balanced himself so as not to bump into you.
“What are you doing?” You asked him with a laugh.
“Nothing,” He rubbed the nape of his neck, giving you a closed eyes smile. Preventing you from seeing his blue gaze you have grown accustomed to.
When you walk past him, he lets out a heavy sigh, his shoulders hung low. ‘Almost got caught.’ He followed you to the kitchen, sitting down on an island chair as he watched you.
“What are you doing?” You look at him through your eyebrows, seeing he had a soft smile spread on his face.
“Watching you,” He cupped his face with his hand, watching as you made breakfast and coffee for the both of you.
Karasu watched you, not taking his deep blue eyes off you. He watched as you made coffee. Watched as you got to bowls out, watching as you made breakfast. His eyes not once leave your frame. He was like a puppy, his blue eyes big and wide as if he was begging for something.
“Breakfast is served,” You hold the bowl in front of his face, a smile on your face.
Karasu takes the steaming bowl from your hand, “Thank you very much. I was starving.”
You smack him upright on the head, “Shut up and be grateful I made you anything.”
“You’re right, my queen.”

Karasu steps out of the car, walking to the driver's side. He opened the door for you, extending his hand from you to grab on as he lifted you out of the car. The sound of people and machines could be heard on the outer edge of the forest. Your heels click on the sidewalk until they hit the soft grass.
When the first person sees you, everyone else turns their heads. In one swift moment every work gets in two lines forming a path for the two of you. Whispers spread down the lines, yet you could care less about what they were saying, bc you knew it was never bad. The people who worked for you loved you. They chose to work for you out of other research teams, if you were more ruthless than most in the work. Everyone still loved you like a savior.
Stopping at the end of the line, you turn on your heel. “You all may go back to work.” You bow slightly to them before walking into your little office. Karasu follows behind you like a crow to its shiny jewels.
He sits down on the chair in front of your table, throwing one leg over the chair facing you with a smile. He rested his chin on his palm, his deep blue eyes looking at you with such a soft look in them. Like the longer you look at him, you could be entranced by him.
“What do you want, Tabito?” You look down at the papers that were laid on your desk, trying your hardest not to look at him.
The way you said his name was perfect in a way he couldn't describe. If he had the choice, he would listen to you call out his name all day. It was nothing with him being egotistical and wanting to hear his name, he wanted to hear it from.
“What, can I not watch you?” A smirk made its way to his soft pink lips. He was here to slack off, or as he put it “watching you.”
You looked up from the papers, seeing the smirk plastered on his face. You raise an eyebrow, a small smile on your face as you examine his expression. “Not unless you provide me with paperwork.”
Karasu sat there a little longer, watching you. Watching the way you spoke toward him, your mannerism toward him. He had all day to do work, but he didn’t have all day to watch you and talk to you.
The curtain of your office sweeps open, the two people inside turn around to the sound. Karasu’s face drops when he sees who it was. The both of you just got here and his day was already ruined by the same person it was yesterday.
“{Y/n}-sensei!” the person called out your name in a panic, putting stacks of papers on your desk. “We found something you might want to see for yourself.”
The crow grabbed a piece of paper from the stack, skimming through the content. “This is…” He slowly read through more, following the words on the paper.
You grabbed another paper, reading through the context. The test result you had dreamed for was coming true. You were so close to finding the bigger piece.
“Thank you, Chika. You’re dismissed.” You place the paper back down on the big stack. You pick up the bigger stack, putting it in the new filing cabinet.
“Um… {Y/n}.” Chika grabbed your attention. Her freckles adore her face, bringing out her dark blue eyes that looked down half up to you and half to the ground. “Can we talk?”
Karasu was about to get up from the chair, until he heard soft heels on the plush ground walking his way. You rested your hand on his shoulder, making him stay where he was. “I’ll talk to you later, right now me and my assistant will be looking at the new papers you just provided. Talking about the next steps.”
“Ok…”
“Drop the act as well, Chika.”
“You caught me,” She raised her arms in the air. Slowly backing out of your office tent with a sly smile on her face.
Karasu turns back to see she left. Her shadow no longer casting on the outside of the tent. “What next steps? You already knew this was going to happen last night.”
“But…” You pull out another stack of papers with your handwriting. You place them in front of Karasu. “I lied to her, but we do need to talk.”
Karasu turns back to you; he sees she’s gone, and her shadow no longer casts on the tent. “What plan? You had already predicted the outcome of the test, and we had talked about it last night.”
“But…” You pull out a paper from the drawers on the desk. You place it on the table, “I lied. But we do need to talk.”

A few days ago
Otoya was walking along the edge of the forest, luckily no one had caught him sneaking away. Not even the eyes of the elders of Elise. If he got caught out here, then he would be bound to his house and the watchful eye of the elders.
‘Why can the elder Ōkuninushi leave the tribe, but we can’t?’ He kicks up some rocks on the sidewalk. He kept walking further down the line with no destination in mind. This wasn’t a busy area, in fact this place was practically dead. There was abandoned houses on the other side of the street, but other than that nothing else was around—
“Huh?” Otoya ears perked up from the sound of loud machines with muffled talks. To further his curiosity, it was later in the night so if people were here there had to be a low chance of them being humans, right?
He walked close to the sound, the voices of the people getting louder, the machines coming to a halt. He peered between some trees of the forest. Seeing tables with tall glasses on them. People dressed in lab coats with papers in their hands. His dark green eyes saw through the night, scanning through the forest and people. His eyes landed on one female who stood with her arms crossed, ordering people around. She stood behind someone, a rather tall male, his hair styled on that of a crow.
“Fetch me the rest of the results back!” The female pointed out to no one in particular, but a bunch of workers responded, stopping what they were doing to grab the one stack of papers she wanted.
Otoya inched close to hear everyone a little better. He hides beside the trees, watching you up closer to get a good look at you. “She—” He softly mumbles under his breath.
“Here you are,” the person bowed their heads, holding the stack of papers up to the man beside you.
Karasu takes the papers to hand them to you. You flip through the papers, skimming through the information you found most important. “Tabiot,” You look at the person to your right. Your [e/c] eyes sparkling in the hue of the night. “I was right about the vampires!” You showed him the one paper that stood out among the rest.
“Then we can keep that to use for a while, ok, {Y/n}.” Karasu showed you a soft smile, ruffling the top of your head.
‘{Y/n}?’ Otoya could hear the faint words the male was speaking. That name, the name sounded familiar but he couldn’t put his tongue on it. ‘Vampires? What was she right on?’ Otoya couldn't help but grow curious. He wanted to know more, he needed to know more.

Karasu grabs the papers from his boss that were laid on the table. “Really, someone wants to work directly under you?” He puts the paper down, looking deep into your [e/c] eyes. “Remeber what happened last time?”
“Yes,” You cross your arms, sitting back down in your chair. “But this guy seems a lot more reliable than the other one.”
“It says he never went to college.” Karasu drags his finger down the information, reading what it said. “Or that he ever worked in a lab. The only information that would be reliable is that he had seen a vampire, but we had no way to prove that information.”
“Yup,” You pop the ‘p’ sound, earning your assistant attention back to you and not on the paper. “Better than the last person. He won’t be a smart snob since he never went to school and had to compete with others. Since he wants to work with me, then that also means he can’t be that dumb. He would be perfect to watch over the new team as well.”
Karasu took your words into consideration, tapping his finger to his temple. Leaning forward in the chair as he sighs. His deep blue eyes look up to you, “If you think this is the right decision, then I have no reason to go against you.”
“Thanks for bein’ considerate, Tabito.” You softly smiled at him, giving him a little ounce of hope that this new guy will treat you better than the other.
Karasu zipped back up the tent, tapping his finger on the zipper hearing you laugh from the inside of your office tent. He walked over to the group that was closest to the tent, the only group that didn’t have a person in charge.
“Hey, Takuma!” Karasu called out to someone on the team.
A tall male looked up from the liquid he was examining. He whipped his head to the call of his name. Out of everyone he was easy to point out, he was the only one with a buzz cut. As well as his muscles stain through the tight lab coat he never got sized up.
“Hey, Karasu!” He put down the vile, walking to the assistant head scientist. “What were you and {Y/n}-sensei talking about?” He leans his back on the table, crossing his arms over his chest.
Karasu sighs into his palm, “Some guy applied to work with her directly. And–” He dragged his hand down to his chin, looking Takuma dead in the eyes, “She considered him. He’ll show up for the interview tomorrow. There is no doubt she’s saying no.”
“Great!” The male seemed happy about it, more workers means more research done. A big smile plastered on his face.
“Huh?! Why great!?” Karasu was surprised by his subordinates' reaction.
Takuma turned around, getting back to work to avoid answering. He lifted the vile back up, dropping some other samples as Karasu watched… or stood in silence as if an answer was going to be heard in the air.
Karasu looked around seeing everyone do their jobs, a reminder that he had a job to do and it wasn’t just standing around and observing people.
a/n: they are meeting soon. and im meeting the end of the line (jk). I don't know how long I want this to be, we'll see when I get there.
