It was a heavy metallic scent that filled her lungs first, followed by something dark and ancient that couldn't easily be described in simple words. Dark caverns and hidden crypts beneath forgotten cities with shimmering eyes piercing through the darkness like spotlights were conjured in her mind along with the feeling of something cold slithering down her spine. The fine hair on the nape of her neck and arms rose.
The dark-haired stranger was a goddamn vampire. Faye couldn't tear her eyes away from him, a maelstrom brewed deep in her chest and some part of her fought to snap and growl like an animal. Her heart raced into action, lungs pulling in deeper breaths until she could taste the dirt and blood that clung to most undead beings. He had been the first she'd come across since leaving her pack and she did not want to give into her innate rage just yet. Since leaving, she had learned of several lies that had been forced down her throat and the evil of vampires may just be one.
"Ain't seen you around here before." Her voice sounded foreign to her, sharp and laced with a venom she had only used once or twice in her life. She cleared her throat and attempted to soften her tone to its normal cadence. "Rather late if you're lookin' for a drink. They got a curfew in this town."
