Guess who just scored a not small vanda orchid for ELEVEN AMERICAN DOLLARS

I just went in for some spaghnum moss but this place is literally acres of orchid greenhouses so I was like “heyyyy so… I *really* want a vanda but. Ya know. (They’re notoriously sensitive and fussy and also usually $50) Do y’all have any species with similar needs that aren’t as expensive I could just test to see how they do in my bathroom maybe?” And the person was like “we actually have some vandas for $11 for some reason if you wanna just give that a shot” *????*

They’re not the brilliant indigo flowered ones I love and want, they’re much redder

I would not necessarily choose this one on its own BUT it was not a $50 plant I may kill and we shall learn if my bathroom is amenable for vandas 👀

Day 55 on this Vanda. The colours have started to fade but it's still holding on like a boss!

Vanda orchid 🌱🌷 these funky orchids can be grown bare root and are watered by soaking the roots for about 10 minutes a day. And their flowers are stunning, like their own little bouquet. Definitely a wish list plant for me when I have a place with more light 😊

83 days! You can see it starting to shrivel, I doubt it will last to day 85. It was a real pleasure to have. ❤️
