If I had a nickel for every series by Shannon Messenger that I read that had a light-haired protagonist raised by a couple who aren’t their biological parents who never felt like they fit in and discovered that they’re not human after an extremely attractive dark-haired, blue-eyed person of the opposite gender and the same species whom the MC would start crushing on (and would crush on the MC) told them of their not-humanness after a light dose of stalking, and is subsequently told that they need to take down a corrupt government with abilities only they have, is assigned at least one bodyguard by the second book, and the mutual crushing between MC and dark-haired beauty is interrupted by a Blonde, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
