Vat Phu (also known as Wat Phou) was constructed during the late 10th to early 11th century. This temple was built to dedicate to Shiva, one of the Gods of the Hindu Trimurti. In the 13th century, it was converted into a Buddhist monastery. Even today, Vat Phou is still a place of worship for local Buddhists.
