It never became easier whenever Ten returned to the underground bunker on Teenytiny Islet.
Every time he walked past the corridor, he'd have to enter the very room in which he, Ecks, and Shun activated in. The very room which became a chamber coated with anxiety during the day of the latter two's activation.
Ten'd tell himself that he hated this room. It wasn't because of the capsules, the tubes, the various broken monitors, nor the graphs.
It was because of Shun's first words when his eyes opened. His words etched into the purple wire's auditory device whenever he came into this very room.
Bending down so that his pompadour pressed against the deactivated control panel linked to Shun's capsule, he let out a huff.
"Where's mama and dad?"
He shared Ecks' sentiment that if they did have parents, then they were dead. And yet, inside his heart, he did feel for Shun. It was a feeling that he'd not bring to him on the surface, but down here was a different story. Never bringing the other two with him meant that Ten could let himself be openly empathic.
Letting out another huff, he lifted himself and turned to face the door on the far left of the room. He couldn't let himself dillydally any longer, not even in regards to Ecks' activation. He was here to retrieve blueprints and various equipment not used by other Concordians outside the bunker.
Making his way to the door and exiting the room, Ten walked down the corridor, ready to enter the room on his right. Except he continued to walk down the passage until he went down the stairs...
...and came across it anew. He remembered firing an energy blast at it from his arm cannon, only for the shot to deflect back at Ten. He remembered ducking onto the floor and covering his face when the debris from the wall fell on him.
Sitting down, Ten stared at the vault door before him and allowed his mind to drift into 'what ifs' and inquiries all over.
