If animals are going to be considered in our struggle for social justice, veganism is the first place where that struggle must start. As a direct protest against the commodity form and property relations that animals are subject to, it is a great refusal of the system itself, a no-compromise position that does not seek reform, but which seeks abolition. For anyone who wants to end animal exploitation, living as a vegan is living the end that we wish to see - no one will exploit animals for mere choices of taste and convenience.

This website is bizarre sometimes...

The first thing they said was that people with my sign usually "pisses them off eugh".

Which was a strange thing to say.

After this they asked for my special interest, talked about tolkien and said im interested in veganism and anarchism (the last two literally being in my fucking BIO).

Then they said this:

First off. That first thing is genuinly fucked up to say to a vegan. Someone who activelly works against the exploitation and abuse of animals. This is kinda like going to a dog shelter and saying you want usually shoot and eat dogs and theyre not interested in doing anything.

That second thing is also wild. Vegetarianism and veganism is different. Vegetarianism is most often a diet. Veganism is a philosophy and idology, based of rights and reducing exploitation to a maximum extent. Im an anarchist, I became a vegan after becoming an anarchist. They are one and the same in my eyes. Part of one big ideology against authority and exploitation. Wether its exploitation of the working class or farmed animals does not matter, its all part of the same system in the end: capitalism and inhumanism.

Then the third is just funny since I AM a self suffiecient 24 year old whos responsible for myself as well as the people whom I literallt WORK with carrying for and assisting in daily life 💀

If I as a really poor 24 year old can be vegan, how does it not work for people who "dont sustain themselves financially".

Anti-veganism is not rational. Its an emotional response to a request for self-reflection, introspection and change for the better of all.

Please think before talking about veganism out of your ass. Cause things like this is CLEARLY projecting insecurities. People are uncomfortable about the idea of veganism and what it means about themselves. And this is so uncomfortable they hate on it without actual cause. (Dont talk about PETA Im not american and I know about them they are not an authority on veganism, I hate when people want to discuss veganism and just talks avout PETA.... like, I agree they're bad?!?! Thats not what talking about veganism is. Stop porjecting and talking about irellevant shit. Please think about yourself. Please consider changing your choices (if you can, if you cannot I will not ask this of you until it is possible for you to do so)

Please do introspection and try to stay ethically consitent. Thats all I ask. Think about yourself and the morality of your choices. Dont take it out on vegans. Were usually pretty cool people.

And please stop talking about killing and eating animals to people who just want to not support the worst parts of capitalism. Were often completemy anti-capitalist too. Its so cruel and so unecessary and mostly makes you look like an immature moron.

There are people who do all kinds of things for the well-being of beings of other species, that is, for non-human animals. What is it that motivates these people?

What is it that differentiates them from those who passively observe (and/or are part of) the slavery, torture, and murder of countless animals?

I believe that there is no single, uniform answer to these questions, but it is very likely that a compelling argument among those who build anti-authoritarian relationships is empathy.

Simple and straightforward empathy, which is the ability to put oneself in the place of another. And in this case, the other lives dominated, imprisoned, tortured, etc., just for being of a certain species. The latter is speciesism.

Speciesism that cemented a reality in which the other exists to satisfy the desires of the dominant species, which sees the body of that animal as a product.

As an anti-authoritarian, anti-speciesism seems to me to be a logical consequence of ideas and practices, so knowing that there are people who have managed to build a space to shelter animals seems beautiful to me.

all categories, classifications, and borders are social constructs informed by systems of power. their existence in a given place and time are not inherent justification for their continued existence, nor are they a basis, on their own, for moral consideration to be denied or afforded. you need to think more deeply than categorical membership.
