Hello July! Let's start with some Like No Udder shall we? Also this book from Jewelle Gomez.
Heck yeah pizza! Another favorite take-out option mid-pandemic in Providence was Pizza J. The pizza pictured here is the Arcimboldo (Artichoke, Crimini Mushroom, Olives, Red Sauce, Herbs, Mozzarella), but my favorite is the Tony Clifton (Herbed Ricotta, Mozzarella, Olive Oil, Roasted Red Pepper, Onion, Garlic, Black Pepper ). Their vegan versions of both are A ++!!
They also make garlic fries with a vegan aioli for dipping (yum) as well as a selection of Smoked or Seitan Served with Blue Cheese (not vegan so sub in the aioli) and Celery. Check out these Wing Flavors: Hot, Sweet Thai Chili, Whiskey-Cola BBQ, Plain. We usually went with the Sweet Thai Chili, but I'm fairly certain you can't go wrong with any of the flavors.
Clearly even the cats wanted a piece of this delicious meal!
Because everyone was being advised to keep social distance to the best of their ability, we decided to make one large food run to our local coop Urban Greens. We made a large shopping list and only one of us went into the store. We wiped everything down with a disinfectant when we brought it into the house.
Later we would learn there was no need to wipe down foods like this, but in the early days it was the advise folks were given.
Early on in the pandemic Like No Udder set up a hatch system for pick up. You can see Margaret happily greeting Karen at the window here! Karen is good people - you can read about here and the ice cream she makes here.
On an almost weekly basis we stopped by to get some of their ice cream and other snacks, including vego chocolate bars and occasionally It's Jerky Y'alljerky for our hikes.
Mint chip is my favorite ice cream flavor, though I'm not sure The Banshee feels the same way.
