I think the grey werewolf from Van Helsing in the beginning of the movie might be Velkans father, Valerias the Elder. Since, when we see Velkan return to Dracula’s castle after his fight with Van Helsing he sees the rotting corpse of his father. I interpret that scene as: Valerias filled a similar role that Velkan has as a werewolf minion of Dracula. I don’t know if it’s been confirmed or not. Still, kind of a cool idea.
