velma show SUCKS big time but…

i couldn’t stop myself from getting attached to fred.

he started off as a spoiled rich douchbag and ended up being, in my humble opinion, the most likable character.

it’s not like he’s genuinely rude, unlike mindy velma. he simply doesn’t know any better because of his parents.

and i really liked his “himbo trying his best” arc.

he is an actual sweet dork, it’s his parents that were sick, both for abusing him his whole life, trying to make him the spit image of his father, and also, well, the whole “mother removing brains of people to replace mine because i am not good enough for her” thing.

so, i just want to say that this show can’t be saved but fred… he has become my special number-one little guy :)

You know what these two characters have in common?

They're both poorly written antagonists from shitty movies/shows and are terrible to look at or think about and are written by edgy dumbasses who can't write patriarchial white men well. I actually hate the Lou design and character so bad that I can't look this fuckass shithole character in the face. I hate him that much.

You know what movie DID portray patriarchial white men well though? Barbie (2023) and it was very realistic and mature about it and not overly edgy. There's a good reason why Barbie made how much it did compared to Uglydolls, because it is actually a good movie. It goes into how Ken was inspired by the male patriarchy in the human world and how he views his partner, Stereotypical Barbie, as well as male fragility. Uglydolls and Velma just made one note stereotypical caricatures that incredibly lack depth.
