The Basic 4#’s of Wellness:
Your Body Mass Index (BMI)
Your Bad Cholesterol (LDL)
Your Sugar (Hemoglobin A1c)
Your Blood pressure (BP)
The BMI is a measurement of your weight to height. It gives you an idea if you have enough or too much extra fat on your body. If your BMI > 30, it suggests you are obese.
The LDL is a type of cholesterol that can cause heart disease if there is too much in your body. If your LDL > 100, consider making some changes to your diet.
Your Hemoglobin A1c is a measurement of how high the sugar in your blood has been in the last 3 months. If it is high, it can mean you have diabetes or are at risk of having it. If your Hemoglobin A1c > 6.5, it suggests you have diabetes.
Your BP is a measurement of the pressure in your blood vessels. If it is too high, it means your heart and other organs have to work harder. If your BP > 140/90, you may have high blood pressure.
Please consult with your doctor about any of the above numbers in regards to your personal health.
