Aqua:Hey Terra. You and Ven are back already?
Terra:Well…I’m back.
Aqua:…*closes book* What?
Terra:So don’t overreact…
Aqua:What did you two do?
Terra:…
Aqua:!?!? What did you do!?

Terra:……You think this spindle is still cursed?
Ventus:Do curse items stop?
Terra:I don’t know.
………
Terra:You should prick your finger.
Ventus:Me!?
Terra:I mean if anyone is going to be immune to sleep, and that’s if it works.
Ventus:Well when you put it that way. Like what are the chances the magic works on outsiders anyways?
Terra:Exactly!

Aqua gave Terra and the three fairies a cold stare of disappointment in Aurora’s room, her bed occupied by a sleeping Ventus.
Aqua:So did you forget Maleficent’s magic worked on you!?
Terra:In my defense, I wasn’t aware she was the one who enchanted the spindle.
Aqua:That’s not a good defense!
Terra:Yeah? Yeah…my fault.
Aqua:Why isn’t that thing broken!? It’s ancient at this point.
Flora:Hard to break enchanted items such as these. It’s no longer regular wood.
Fauna:We didn’t tell them to snoop around!
Merryweather:Yeah!
Aqua:*squints*
Fairies:We’re terribly sorry!
Aqua:Sigh…guess what’s done is done, even if it could’ve been avoided. Can’t you three break the spell?
Fauna:That’s why you’re here!
Flora:Deary, don’t you remember? A curse like this can only be broken one way. True love’s kiss.
Aqua:*red*……This is why you were okay with him testing it, weren’t you?
Terra:Untrue! I didn’t think anything would happen. I mean why would they it out if it was dangerous?
Fairies:Because no one walks around the castle looking to prick their finger!
Merryweather:The room was even locked!
Terra:Heh “locked”
Aqua:Terra, kiss him.
Terra:What!?
Aqua:You two truly love each other like brothers. Help him out.
Terra:That’s not how this works.
Aqua:Says who? Are you saying you wouldn’t kiss him to save his life? *pulls out Gummi Phone* Try it just once.
Terra:I…but…who knows the concequence of getting it wrong? I could fall asleep.
Flora:That is true. We’ve never known what happens if the wrong person tries, but Terra has informed us of you and Ventus’s connection. I could tell by the way you ran in here that you must be the right person!
Aqua:Have you been telling people!?
Terra:Was it a secret? You two are fools for each other. Anyways, let’s not play around and end up with two sleeping people.
Aqua:Worse case scenario I end up waking you both up.
Terra:Nah, you wouldn’t work.
Aqua:……
Aqua:Do you actually have a person you’re in lo-
Terra:I’ll never tell.
Ventus:Zzzzzz
Aqua looks at Ventus. At this point it shouldn’t be surprised how peaceful he looks sleeping. Honestly, how could he put himself back in this situation!? Aqua stood motionless over him. She turned looked over her shoulder at the captive audience. Her blush grew.
Aqua:Could you please leave the room at least!
Merryweather:Aw but I’m invested!
Fauna:Theses moments are always magical.
Flora:Are you nervous?
Terra:If I know Aqua, she’s excited but having overthinking intrusive thoughts like if it actually won’t wor-
He watches Aqua squint at him. Wisps of darkness faintly rise and her eyes flash yellow. Terra let’s out a nervous laugh before scooping up the fairies in his arms and leaving the room. Teasing time was over.
Aqua calmed down. She wasn’t actually angry, just anxious more than anything.Terra may have been right though. This would suck if it didn’t work. Fortunately she knew her feelings, and Ven was never the kind of person capable of hiding his. Aqua couldn’t help but laugh at herself. She was overthinking. Aqua sat next to Ventus and brushed the hair out of his face. Gently she bent down and pressed her lips against his for a few seconds before pulling away. Ven’s eyes gradually opened as if he was dreaming.
Ventus:Mmmmgh! That was a nap! Hey Aq- oh you are upset.
Aqua:Obviously! Are you trying to sleep forever!? *grabs face*
Ventus:*smile* No, I knew things were safe. This was literally the worst case scenario.
Aqua:And if my kiss didn’t wake you up?
Ventus:It would. You wouldn’t lie about loving me.
Aqua:Still. I figured you’d hate taking the risk.
Ventus:Sleeping isn’t so bad. Both times I’ve woken up to see you waiting for me.
Why!? Why was he like this, so honest and aware of what to say!? Aqua felt his hands on top of hers as she held his face. She wanted to properly give him a lecture yet her blush and a swell of joy was written all over her face. Ventus gave her a cheeky grin and she found herself giving up on trying to be upset, kissing him again. Honestly, what’s up with boys!? Can’t leave well enough alone, this one especially; yet she loved him for it.
Ventus noticed the door and broke the kiss. Both of them looked to see that they have been caught red handed by Terra and the fairies who sneakily cracked the door open.
Aqua:I said privacy!
Terra:See? I knew everything was fine.
Aqua:You are so lucky I wouldn’t actually risk you falling asleep. Tell me who you love!
Terra:I am a man of mystery.
Ventus:It’s Cinderella.
Terra:Traitor!!!
★~ VenquaWeek2022 ★ Day 2: Sleep ★ Read on Ao3! ~★
The Mysterious Tower had a perfect view of the night sky, located as it was on an island floating through the dark void of the Ocean Between.
Ventus readjusted his pillow on the ledge of a star-shaped window and propped his legs up on the other side, staring out into the field of twinkling stars. Master Yen Sid had given him and the others all room and board at his tower to recuperate before their awaiting final clash against Organization XIII.
Despite requiring rest for the looming battle ahead, Ventus couldn’t sleep— or rather, he was afraid of what would happen if he did. According to Yen Sid, he’d been comatose for twelve whole years; Ven supposed he was fortunate to not have aged in all that time. Still, the experience had left him terrified of falling asleep for fear of never waking up again.
A soft knock on his bedroom door brought him out of his troubled musings.
“Come in,” he called as he turned to face the door, wondering who wanted to see him this late at night. His question was answered not a moment later as Aqua stepped into the room, dressed in dark blue pajamas with a pillow under her arm.
“Oh, uhm… Hi, Ven,” she greeted hesitantly, gently closing the door behind her.
“Hey, Aqua,” he replied. The two of them stared at each other for a long, awkward moment.
“May I… join you?” Aqua finally asked, holding up her pillow.
“Y-yeah! Sure.” Ven lowered his feet to make room for her on the windowsill; Aqua walked over and placed her pillow on the opposite ledge and sat down, silently staring out the window with her hands folded in her lap.
Ven peered at Aqua, unsure of what to say. She looked… different. Her skin was pale from lack of sunlight, with contrasting dark circles under her eyes; her whole frame drooped, and her expression was sullen.
“…You look awful,” he mumbled before realizing what he’d said. “I-I mean—! You’re not awful, you just—”
Aqua held up a placating hand. “I know, Ven…” she said, attempting a smile. “You’re looking refreshed, though.” She gave a light, strained laugh.
Ventus didn’t find the remark particularly humorous. “Yeah,” he deadpanned. “I guess I’ve slept so much that I don’t need to, anymore.”
“I don’t sleep much either, nowadays,” Aqua admitted with a shrug, fidgeting with the hem of her pajama blouse.
“Yeah…” Unlike him, she looked the opposite of well-rested. “Uh— Did you… have a nightmare?” he guessed hesitantly.
In the past, whenever Ven had a nightmare, it was Aqua who would comfort him. He’d go to her room and climb into her bed, and her soothing words gave him peaceful dreams. That had been a long time ago, though; now she was coming to him.
Her lips parted like she wanted to say something, then paused to reconsider. “No, I… The room Master Yen Sid gave me doesn’t have any windows, so it’s rather…”
“Dark?” Ventus supplied, immediately regretting it as Aqua’s pale face flushed pink with embarrassment.
“Yes.” She looked away, back to the night sky. “It’s silly, isn’t it; being afraid of the dark.”
“It’s not silly at all.”
From what Ven had overheard from Aqua’s report to Yen Sid, she’d spent the last twelve years trapped in the Realm of Darkness. Like him, she hadn’t aged a day— yet there was a deep weariness behind her eyes.
Ven wet his lips uncertainly. He didn’t want to pry, but Aqua was clearly hurting and this seemed too important to be worrying about manners. “What happened, Aqua?”
For a long moment she was silent, and Ven wondered if she wasn’t going to speak. But then Aqua heaved a great sigh and turned to him, meeting his gaze.
“When I was fighting Xehanort, I fell into the Realm of Darkness. It was full of monsters —the Heartless— and no matter how many I fought or where I went, I couldn’t escape,” she recounted, tears glistening on her eyelashes. “It was like a nightmare I’d never wake up from, and part of me is terrified that if I close my eyes, I’ll just be right back there…”
“No.” Ven clasped her hands in his; there was a slight tremble in her fingers. “You’re here, in the Realm of Light, with me.”
“…Right, sorry,” she sniffled, wiping her tears on her sleeve. “I’m supposed to be tougher than this.”
“Aqua…”
She cleared her throat and gave a weak smile. “I just need a little time to readjust. I’m sorry for bothering you.” Aqua stood and made to leave.
“Wait!” Ven cried, catching her hand. “Why don’t you sleep here for the night?” he offered. “And we can ask Master Yen Sid to change your room in the morning.”
She bit her lip. “Oh, I wouldn’t want to intrude…”
“Not at all! It’ll be just like a sleepover,” he said brightly.
At this, Aqua went a bit pink in the face. “Ven… We aren’t kids, anymore.”
“Oh! It’ll be just as friends,” he blushed, hopping up from the windowsill. “Here, you can have my bed.”
Aqua’s lips parted slightly, then she smiled— the first genuine smile he’d seen from her all evening. “…Alright,” she nodded. “It would be nice to have some company, and… Well. I’m just glad I’m not alone, tonight. It feels good to be with a friend.”
“No problem,” Ven said, grinning back. “I’m happy you’re here, too.”
They settled in for the night, Aqua taking the bed while Ven arranged some pillows and blankets on the soft rug.
“Goodnight, Ven,” Aqua yawned, pulling up the covers.
“‘Night,” Ventus returned. He laid there for several minutes, listening to her soft breaths even out as she finally fell asleep.
Ven glanced up at her sleeping form, illuminated by the light of the stars outside. It was a comfort to have her here, and he was grateful for the chance to return the kindness she had shown him all those years ago.
He let out a slow breath and turned onto his side. Aqua would be alright; he was sure of it. With that reassuring thought in mind, Ven closed his eyes and finally allowed himself to drift off to sleep.

Last year was a success, so from January 9th to January 15th Venqua week is happening again!
Anyone can participate, whether with all seven prompts or just one of them, there are no restrictions to joining! And all type of content is welcome, not just art! Writing, edits, gifs, GMV’s, data greeting or anything else you can come up with is allowed as long as it’s Venqua focused ^^

Because this is Venqua week it is required to have your contributions focused in Venqua. You may add other characters if you like, but it’s preferred to not include other ships as well. However please don’t take this event as an opportunity to bash other KH ships.
It is NOT mandatory to create something for all seven prompts. If you feel like contributing to one or two prompts only that’s not an issue in the slightest, so please don’t feel pressured to participate the entire week.
This also goes for everyone, participating or not, to not bash or insult any of the contributors or their creations for Venqua week. This event is meant for everyone to enjoy, so please be respectful and kind to the people that take their time to share their contributions. Keep in mind that if anyone is caught being disrespectful they’ll be blocked and thus won’t be able to see the content shared in this blog.
