Trying to draw again after not having drawn for a long long time or practicing at all because you have bed bed bound (so too sick to) and then having something not even exactly difficult in mind to do is so. Frustrating.
I'm overwhelmed over what I need to do, and it's not even that much. It's someone holding their arm out to a butterfly. I am simplifying the shapes. I am actually doing well. But it's been 3 hours and I want to cry because all I have down is really. Shapes.
And then I look at all the detail I need to add and it's driving me insane. I couldn't even get the eyes right. These aren't even the end lines. I have to draw over everything after the shapes are down. It doesn't help that the character has a complicated back for design in clothes. I'm still practicing with bodies too. I genuinely am very inexperienced with them. I can see every single issue and it's driving me insane
waiiiiit i have a fun idea:
gimmie an icon/symbol to turn into a venting steam button :D
Hey there! As I've posted, Venting Steam is approaching completion.
After today, it seems very likely that the game will be ready for release in the coming weeks. With that said, here's some basic external info on the game:
At first, Venting Steam will be on itch.io, and I want to get it onto steam after that, which could take a while depending on how long I take to actually bother.
It will be released for macOS and Windows.
The game will cost US$8.
Made Venting Steam key art! <3

Venting Steam dev notes!
Hey there! Since Venting Steam has been out for a week now, I thought I’d share some of the notes and concept sketches from the game’s history, with some commentary!
this page is from VS’s initial conceptualization.
so let me tell you a story:
I was eating a sandwich, chips, and a glass of water. While eating, I noticed I had fallen into a certain pattern. Eating bites of sandwich to satisfy my want for sandwich, while breaking for chips to ensure I finished them first, all while taking sips of water to refresh myself. Now weather this was automatic or something I did for “fun” I don’t know, but I thought about how you could break this pattern-following down into a simple game, and thus Venting Steam was born.
You’d be given a set of rules every level (finish bar 2 before 1, but 2 cannot be held for too long, and 3 must be pulled periodically) and you would have to puzzle out what exactly you’d do to follow those rules.
This idea stayed dormant, just some drawings in a notebook, until I watched a video breaking down the code of FNAF1 (which i’ve never played) and thought about the idea of juggling multiple numbers to make sure they didn’t reach a certain value, and applied it to that buttons thing I had laying around.
Now these notes were actually for a version of Venting Steam I made for school in code.org (talk about that some other time) but most of the current VS was planned out for that. The progress bar, triangle and circle buttons, all of it!
Then, when I graduated high school, I committed myself to making Venting Steam an Actual Game. So I remade the code.org game (and some ideas not in it) in Unity. The unity version got all the way to something I thought was somewhat close to done, but various Complications got too annoying for me to handle, and I decided to switch to a dedicated 2D engine.
After remaking all of the Unity version in Gamemaker, I thought i was done. but my stupid creative brain just couldn’t help but come up with more ideas!!!!! (also i kinda wanted 4 weeks anyway)
(cont. in reblog)
Regarding a Steam release of Venting Steam:
At present, the upfront fee that Steam charges is the only roadblock for further progress on getting the game to Steam, although this will likely get paid within two weeks.
Otherwise, there are some changes and additions to the game I’d like to make before I go ahead. These may take a while or no time at all, depending on how busy I am and how smoothly the additions go. Then there’s some time that I have to and want to wait before/after the page goes up, and I have to actually MAKE the page.
So all in all I’m certain of a Steam release before August, and hopeful of one before July.
Besides all that, I’m… keeping myself busy
becoming increasingly more excited for venting steam i looove multitasking games
hehe yayyyyyyyyy
honestly maybe friday??
