“Washed up Already”

I wanted to try something a little different! I just chose a simple color palette, practiced some simple two point perspective, and scribbled this into being. It’s college-age Vera, living through what I think everyone who’s ever gone to college has felt at some point -- that early-morning, almost weirdly tranquil anxiety of trying to sort out all the things you’ve gotta get to work on. Inspired by the song it’s titled after!

Becoming a Sehen results in many changes: some of them pretty obvious, some of them... Less so.

(This is a simple little comic I made as a way to decompress and just have fun practicing exaggerated expressions. It’s also an excuse to draw some Blik and Vera -- I love these guys. In the last comic he was in, Blik smiled maybe once, so this is a nice change of pace.)

A quick Vera I made while playing with my style. I usually use her to test out more realistic stuff (well, “realistic”, I suppose -- this obviously isn’t photo-realistic or anything), since I have a pretty clear image of her face in my mind. This time, there’s really only a few small changes from my normal style, but I’m a fan of the way she looks here! I’m not sure if the tweaks will stick around in the long term, but either way, it was fun to do!

Inktobers 20 and 21! If I draw angsty Blik, I’ve got to even it out and draw angsty Vera. You know, twin equality. And the 21st? I... I don’t know. I couldn’t think of anything for “drain”.

Inktober #7! A college-age Vera working herself past any reasonable threshold. Get some sleep, Vera.

This isn’t anything particularly grand, but I made a nice-looking family tree for the Hallias! (I figured this might be a good idea after accidentally giving my mom a massive headache trying to explain how they’re all related...)

For those curious, the dotted lines above the name plates mean that the person in question is desert-born (so they lack biological parents, but can still be part of a family via marrying in or adoption, or any other number of ties), the little crowns and square dealies to the left of the name plates indicate that the person was a queen / king or a Sehen, and the lines above some characters’ heads that fade out means that that person has actual parents, but I just didn’t want to bother drawing more faces.
