Verdaccio. It's an under painting technique that the old greats used to help make realistic skin tones. The green color is complimentary to red, and the idea is that the greenish hue makes the reds in skin tones pop out more, and dull the yellows and pinks. I've been playing around with the idea, but if you've been around for awhile, you already know I used to start paintings with random colors on the canvas, never a white surface. I've only recently started paintings with just a sketch alone. To be honest, having colors already on it made the project less intimidating. Plus it provided a layer of paint so that the finished painting looked "thick" so you couldn't see canvas fabric underneath. This shade of green isn't quite the shade Michaelangelo used of course, but sue me lol. I'm gonna do a few more to get a feel for underpainting with intention. . . #michaelangelo #verdaccio #paintingtechniques #artlessons #arttechniques #portraitstyles #complimentary #colorpop #faces #underpainting #instaart #blackart #skintone #melaninbeauty #jamietheartist https://www.instagram.com/p/B8A36FQprCc/?igshid=9butwoqmxxfm
