NEWS FROM VERMONT ART GUIDE

Folksy, Fantastical, Vivid, and Alive

In this week's News from Vermont Art Guide: We find Vermont art to be "Folksy, Fantastical, Vivid, and Alive." Two events not to miss this weekend: The Front's reception in Montpelier on Friday and the seasonal opening of Cold Hollow Sculpture Park on Saturday.  In Vermont Art Guide #1, Theresa Sinclair writes about Cold Hollow, "Like a herd of wondrous creatures, massive forms emerge across the landscape and welcome viewers to walk amongst them”. And yes, you can bring a picnic. From the print edition, we look at Regina Baez's illustrations at City Market, Onion River Food Co-op and Clark Derbes' exhibition at the BCA Center. We congratulate Robert Waldo Brunelle, Jr. for taking First Place at Art’s Alive FOFA this year.

Soft, Yet Energetic, Cellular and Structural

Each week we email a round up of what’s on our radar. This week the art is “Soft, Yet Energetic, Cellular and Structural”: Art’s Alive Festival of Fine Art’s Annual Gala & Award Ceremony takes place on on Friday, June 17 in Burlington. From the current, print edition of the magazine, we take a look at Storefront Bottles by Wendy James, one of the four Collect This! Artworks featured. There is so much great art to see: Elisa Johns’s Wildflowers at Walker Contemporary in Waitsfield; James Vogler’s Who Turned On the Light at White River Gallery at BALE in South Royalton;  Terry Ekasala at Catamount Arts’ Annex at Dylan’s in St. Johnsbury; and Adrienne Ginter’s Flora Meets Fauna at the Governor’s Gallery in Montpelier.
