“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” —Jeremiah 31:25 (ESV)
“Satisfy the Weary Soul – Jeremiah 31:25” By Stephanie K. Adams:
“Verse Mapping”: Looking up key words in a passage can help bring new meaning to the verse:
Satisfy – fulfill desire, expectation, need; to put an end to
Languishing – (languish) lacking in spirit or interest; indifferent
Replenish – to make full or complete again; to supply with fresh fuel
Using these definitions, we can see how this verse comes alive with new meaning and depth. “For I will put an end to the weary soul and to every indifferent lacking soul I will supply fresh fuel.” WOW! So powerful!
Reflect: God will supply with fresh fuel – a fresh word – when we are weary and worn down. He will fill us completely so we lack for nothing.
Relate: Spending time with His Word is the way God will speak and fulfill a dry and worn out spirit. We must make spending time with His word a priority. Continually dwelling in His Word and presence will help us prevent being depleted and working in our own strength.
Pray: Lord, help me to seek Your Word daily. Fill my empty soul and help me to wait on You when I become weary. Satisfy the thirst of my soul with You and Your Word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Remember: Only God can satisfy a worn out and weary soul. Continually dwelling in His Word and presence will help us prevent being depleted and working in our own strength.”
