there’s a certain measure of DISTASTE which he holds for the man / inherent to him by virtue of his dislike of any tendency to willfully obey any and all orders. case in point : HIM. it’s rather rash judgment call, he supposes, but when one is the vassal of the future emperor / that leaves little room for arguing steadfastly against any unsavory decisions that may be made on her part.

never mind that he remembers her still from the days in their childhood where they played while the crown prince on high was absent and they forged something like a friendship / before she left / before she disappeared once more. and it’s in part due to the stark change in her appearance and this vague recollection of their youth ( had it been real? had it been real? ) that causes him to watch her, from time to time. and thus : this. or, so he assumes.
