VEY'ZEIN NATION STAND UP
Master of Puppets (spoilers)
I do love these little moments when the hero tells a former villian, that previously posed a serious threat, to their face that they aren't cool with them after all the harm they caused to people. That being said...
I do appreciate the contrast of Konnan's development when compared to say someone like Frostscythe from last week.
Even though he might still have enjoyed it to some degree, Konnan recognizes that part of him that was driving his villainy does come from a dark and unhealthy place and while that obviously doesn't make up for what he's done it does make it easier to see why he ends up where he does in Book 3.
It is somewhat lamentable that we'll never really have the same level of pleasantries we once shared with Konnan back in Book 1 but sometimes when two people have caused each other so much pain to one another the only path forward is to sever ties for good even if outright open hostilities are over with.
It's a small change from the original but I do love how in these inner monologues you have the Professor who feels much more introspective and reflective in his train of thought meanwhile Wargoth sounds like he's suffering from a fit of paranoia at the thought of this entity he doesn't understand is able to touch his own mind. Really sells the previous mention that he sees the Professor as the invading party of his conscious.
Never once considered the possibility that this old locked room would serve as logical evidence in piecing together the mystery of what Xan knows about Wargoth but I am loving it.
But in even more interesting developments...
VEYLA DIDN'T DIE!!!
Please fr, give me cryptic earthy legless worms. I need them.
a list of ocs i havent added to my oc page and probably never will:
cosima & safiya - my arcana apprentices
elaine - deithwens & avallac'hs daughter, spoiled, arrogant, and a know it all. but she has a secret heart of gold she only shows to those she trusts. she loves painting and animals.
sidra shepard - a second shepard i made before andromeda came out to romance thane with. one day i play you and force myself to use the renegade options i swear.
hope seed - junia rooks & joseph seeds kid & my protag for new dawn. my headcanon of this game is so much better than the original, hehe. she's an absolute sunshine.
oscar + hailey shepard & eden kenobi - turns out i have a ton of oc reladed kids that are space themed, huh.
veyla - an elder scrolls oc that lives now in the big multiverse my sister and i created. she's the worst person you'll ever meet, unlikable to the core. i love her.
leylith & lucien - more ocs of my sister & mine elder scrolls / d&d / vtm multiverse 🤡
alanoriel - tolkien never bothered to give thranduils wife a face, name or character so my sister & i did <3
sage - my d&d/dos2 ocs son. he's bastard born, bitter, and a traitor. he uses his good looks and arrogant demeanor as a shield, and it would shatter the moment he would meet his mummy again - anyway this is deep sage/willow lore i'll shut up.
magnús einarsson - an undead viking oc. made a pact with a demon the moment before he died without realising it... maybe i'll add him to my oc page eventually if i know in which world/fandom to put him in
lilie rose morgan - delilahs & arthurs daughter ❤

The Lost Ateala (spoilers)
Ah hell, this is about to be depressing isn't it?
Yep super depressing. You know now that I think about it, I never really fully digested how horrifying this whole ordeal has been for Veyla. One day you're living peacefully on your homeworld only for the stuff of nightmares you had only heard stories about suddenly returns and starts slaughtering your people seemingly out of nowhere. But he doesn't stop there, no no no, that would be too easy, he then enslaves some of you, yourself included, by pulling on a fire within you that makes you seek out the pain and destruction of your loved ones. A terrifying prospect but at least it keeps you from remembering your planet has been reduced to a smoking crater.
For a brief time, you escape him, your mind now your own you have the ability to once again think about that daunting fact. At least you have the knowledge that some of your people made it out of Somorah and have something resembling home in a foreign world with heroes willing to protect. Except, you begin to feel that all too familiar pull reaching deep inside you in an effort to force you into submission. The worst part is you know you can't fight it forever. The second worst part is you know this likely means the one responsible for all this pain and misery inside you is on his way to hurt you and those you love and he's likely going to make you be the one responsible for all of it and just for shits and giggles I might add.
I've said it before, but I genuinely do love that Alz'ein isn't labeling Veyla as a traitor right out the gate. It characterizes how much she actually she cares more about things beyond strength and combat.
Also I just love how Alz'Ein immediately gives Nirios the death stare the moment he would even suggest that Veyla's sanity couldn't be safeguarded in favor of the greater good. This woman is clearly at her wits end with all the loss and sacrifices that have and likely will be made and I love to see it.
Rising Fire
At last, we arrive upon the Rising Fire war reimagining and oh has its introduction been a nice little treat.
I shudder to think what might have happened had the Atealans ended up dropping into somewhere like the Shapeless Empire as they fled Wargoth.
Loving the setup for our eventual "appointment" with Dr. Voltabolt.
I'm sure Alteon will do absolutely nothing to make sure this line of his doesn't age like milk, nothing at all.
Oh how I cannot wait to see how Alz'Ein inevitably reacts to the situation that's about to unfold in this reimagining, but for now I'll have to satiate my appetite on clearing war waves.
The General's Arrival Reimangined (spoilers)
I KNEW IT! I KNEW THESE TWO HAD SOME FORM OF HISTORY!
*ahem*
For those of you reading this and are likely confused about my outburst, I'm not sorry :P.
You see years back when I initially played this saga as wee-gamer I was a bit confused and a bit put-off by the fact that Alz'Ein was so dead-set on labeling Veyla as a traitor and her inability to resist Wargoth's control as a betrayal.
At the time, it seemed as if she was angry with Veyla, and by some extension the other enslaved Atealans, for no real reason other than the fact that they had been conquered and controlled by the enemy at all, ya know something they wouldn't exactly be to blame for.
Of course, now that I'm older I understand a lot of her abrasiveness, frustration, and anger stems from the fact that their people were forced to flee their burning home, as well as the fact we weren't exactly listening on how much of a threat Wargoth posed to Lore.
However, I couldn't take my mind off the fact that she used the word betrayal. That's not a word you use lightly especially against someone you know. It eventually got me thinking: We don't exactly know all the events that took place on Somorah when Wargoth came to conquer it besides the obvious. As a result, it made me wonder if some of the Atealans deliberately chose to surrender, to bow down, to Wargoth in an effort to save themselves from being annihilated. Therefore, consenting to be controlled as opposed to having their will taken from the by force. My thought process at time was that Alz'Ein witnessed such a choice take place on the planet before they escaped and that was reason why she saw Veyla as a traitor.
Now of course we know now that Alz'Ein and the others don't know what's happening with the other Atealans trapped on Somorah so it's entirely possible that Wargoth did forcibly take control of all of them after all, especially the riftwalkers that were left behind. But I think it's possible that some Atealans may have chosen to submit. Can't wait to find out either way.
