It’s become a bit of a ritual between Michael Findlay and I to end an art fair week with a quiet contemplative dinner to talk about art, culture and life. I’ve known Michael for almost 14 years now and have benefitted greatly from his deep and long experience in the art world as dealer, thinker and writer. There’s never a lack of anything to talk about. The years past and we continue to converse. Today was “the airing of the quilts” in Winterset IA. First stop - the Iowa quilt museum where the current exhibit is an amazing selection of Victoria Findlay Wolfe’s quilts. This started as scraps but I ended up obsessing over the fabric choices for ages!🙄. Hopefully it still has a bit of a scrappy vibe. I also wanted straight edges and the blocks on point. ( I think that’s what I’ve done. ) was kinda learning and making it up as I went 😆. Itching to quilt this one. 😀.
