A painting I did last winter. I started painting this on location, but a woman who lived in this building came out and was very upset that I was standing there painting in the night. The house is very popular with painters in this area. She told me a whole sad story about how she was sick of painters on the street all the time hanging around her house. “ Imagine living here, I have no privacy,” she exclaimed. Wow. So I finished it in my studio.

Edward Hopper painted the house next-door. Which is a nice Bed-and-breakfast. The building pictured is cut up into about 10 apartments.

79 Mt. Pleasant. A mixed media ode to a stately old Victorian home in Gloucester, MA.. I had the pleasure of visiting close friends who lived in the upper story. From her high perch, we could see Gloucester’s inner harbor, and watch fireworks on Labor Day. I love old historic homes with their walled back-stories. I took artistic liberties with the representation, however, it’s a close resemblance. #mixedmedia on gesso board: 11 x 14” The background is a sanded stilllife painting.
