The city of Victoria is providing $40,000 to a program that helps Indigenous people who are unhoused return to their home communities. The relocation program is run by Peer 2 Peer Indigenous Society, an outreach group led by Karen Mills. She’s a Metis woman from Vancouver Island who has experienced homelessness herself, and now works to support indigenous people living on the streets in Victoria — especially along Pandora Avenue, often seen as the hotspot for homelessness in B.C.’s capital.
