VideoTexture is a feature new to AIR 17.0. Stage3d video files using the context to create a texture directly. The output image itself, not the traditional way to draw over a Bitmap Video hardware acceleration can expect a much improved performance. Below is a video performance testing of each set.
In conventional manner until the resolution of 512 × 512 shows a considerable degree of performance. However, if you use a large image, such as shown at 2000 × 1000 Test2, you can see that 3D performance is falling markedly in the eye. If you use the AIR 17.0 VideoTexture here it shows the faster performance, such as Test3.
However, in the case of Test3 also look closely inside the 3D object is to show the fastest performance, but you can make sure that the video is playing very slowly. Maybe this part seems to need a little more optimized.
Finally Test4 has used images of 1000 × 500 mp4 format. This seems to me decent performance even though only about half the size. And funny thing is when a simulation on the PC If you use the AIR 17.0 VideoTexture will play flv format only. When tested in the device mp4, 3gp work normal.
In yet AIR 17.0 VideoTexture Windows, Mac and viscosity'm a bit of a pity that only supports iOS operating point. Adobe recently released by the looks but speed is expected to be released soon AIR 18.0 support Android.
