Whatsapp gets a new ‘View-Once’ update for its Voice Messages
The latest announcement by Whatsapp extends the ‘View Once’ feature from photos and videos to voice messages. Recently unveiled by WhatsApp, this view once feature for voice messages enables users to send messages that vanish after they’re heard. WhatsApp highlighted the resemblance of this new feature to the View Once functionality introduced for photos and videos in 2021 via a blog post announcement.
According to WhatsApp, this feature proves ideal for sharing sensitive data such as credit card information or arranging surprises. Similar to ‘View Once’ photos and videos, these voice messages are identified by a “one-time” icon and can only be played once.
WhatsApp claims that the newly introduced View Once feature for voice messages benefits from default end-to-end encryption. Additionally, Whatsapp has disclosed that the global rollout of View Once voice messages will take place in the upcoming days.
The disappearing voice note feature is designed to enhance the privacy of your messages, alleviating concerns about your voice notes being forwarded to others. By activating this feature, you can confidently send voice notes without being concerned, knowing they won’t be shared.
How can you use the ‘view-once’ feature for voice messages?
For images, voice messages, and videos that disappear once opened by the recipient, you’ll need to consistently select the ‘View Once’ option. Once sent, you won’t be able to review them. To confirm if the recipient has viewed a ‘View Once’ photo, video, or voice message, they must have read receipts activated.
