So regarding Lapis. She was on homeworld, working for the homeworld, but no one knew what was going on with Earth? Like Peridot was just poking around seeing why the teleport was broken and had no idea what was going on with humans or that the Crystal Gems even existed. However when Lapis gets to Earth with Peridot and Jasper, Jasper knows Lapis was help captive. So lapis gets to homeworld and it probably goes like Evil homeworld person(EHP):"Lapis where have you been for 4000 years?!?"(1/2)
Lapis *thinks about steven* "Oh I was trapped and I only just managed to escape." EHP:"You were trapped on earth!?" Lapis: "Ummm... yes... and I flew here since there is definietly no way to get there with a teleporter and you should leave it alone."Then later after Peridot finds out about the crystal gems... poor Lapis I can't imagine what they did to her to get the truth :( (2/2)
I know... she was probably detained and controlled from the moment she got back, poor thing. Who even knows what she had to go through before the Homeworld gems were satisfied she wasn’t lying.
What really gets me though, is she presumably told them about the Crystal Gems’ team and base, she still didn’t tell them about Steven. Her message even stresses that, she wants him to think well of her so so much. She wants to protect him to the point that, even though her entire ‘plan’ is to submit and obey in the hopes that the Homeworld will go easy on her, she sends Steven that message on the Wailing Stone to warn him. She looks so scared and tired, she seems to glance over her shoulder at one point, it must have been a great personal risk. But she still does it because Steven’s simple kindness is greater to her than all the mistreatment the Homeworld could threaten.
Re: Horses. For me, any animals that could basically just chose to smash me if it wanted is terrifying. A horse could mess you up in like 5 seconds if it was so inclined.
Yeah, that’s a pretty good rule for ‘should I be scared of this’.
I think part of it is I find horse body language more difficult to read than most animals. I’m pretty good on cat and dog body language, but with horses, I can’t pick up on all those subtle cues to understand how they’re feeling.
Also, horse riding has never made sense to me. Sure, once upon a time they were the superior mode of transport, but now? That’s like having a motorcycle that can’t go as fast or as long, and requires a ton more maintenance, while it might also get frightened of fucking nothing and toss you off, or fall on you and crush your spine, or drag you behind it for ages. I do not personally see the appeal.

SSTDs :o
I don't know what the exta S stands for. Super STDs?
Which they kind of would be. The worst diseases that humans get have mostly crossed over from other animals. They hit us harder because we don't have natural defenses against them. Or that's what I've been told, I don't know how accurate it is.
But anyway, I took that idea and ran with it. If you caught a sexually-transmitted nasty from an alien you would, like, super die. But the Network at least managed to stop these diseases from turning into wide-spread plagues. They could isolate those who had it while they figured out a cure.
Which they did. And now everyone of any species can bone freely in safety.

I don’t know, though. Do you know a reason why you would want to solve problems for other people?
tbh it's probably like, a bit of a superiority thing, a bit of a control thing, and a bit of a compensation thing. Like, 'I might not be able to fix my chronic pain, but I know I can solve his problem in a much more efficient/effective manner than him'
Add on top of that I am helpful/accommodating by nature - like, if someone says they don't have much money, I want to help them pay for stuff.
I know that 'too helpful' sounds like the kind of personality flaw that a narcissist would give themselves but I'm not trying to say I'm oh so caring and kind. Like I said, it's almost a compulsion and when I can't/decide not to get involved with someone's problems I get really antsy and uncomfortable and sometimes a little obsessive. It's not an altruistic thing. It's a weird not good thing.
