summary - you and vini have been best friends for years. when you finally take that leap, everything changes—beautifully.
you never thought you'd be one of those people. you know, the ones who fall for their best friends.
but here you are, sitting on the couch in vini's apartment, heart racing because you've been caught staring at him one too many times. and the worst part? he noticed.
vini's been your best friend since forever. you moved to madrid a few years ago, and he was the first person to welcome you with open arms. it didn't hurt that he was charming, funny, and, well, insanely attractive. but you always pushed those thoughts aside. he was vini, your goofy, football-obsessed best friend. thinking of him as anything more felt like betraying some unspoken rule.
but lately, things have been... different.
you've caught him looking at you with a softness in his eyes that wasn't there before. he's been finding excuses to touch you—a hand on your back, a squeeze of your shoulder, fingers brushing yours. it's driving you crazy, and you don't know what to do about it.
"hey, earth to y/n," vini says, waving a hand in front of your face. you blink, realising you've been staring at the tv without actually watching it.
"sorry, what did you say?" you ask, trying to focus.
"i asked if you wanted to order pizza or go out for dinner." he repeats, smirking a little. "but you were a million miles away."
you laugh, a little too high-pitched. "just tired, i guess. let's order in."
vini nods and picks up his phone, but you can feel his eyes on you. he's been doing that a lot lately, watching you with this intensity that makes your skin tingle.
after the pizza arrives, you settle back on the couch with a movie playing in the background. you can't concentrate on it, though. not with vini sitting so close, his thigh pressed against yours. every time he moves, you practically feel a jolt of electricity.
"you okay?" he asks, his voice soft.
you nod, but you know you're lying. you're not okay. you're confused and terrified and maybe a little bit in love with your best friend. and you have no idea what to do about it.
"actually, no," you blurt out, surprising yourself. "i need to talk to you about something."
vini eyes you curiously, but he nods anyway. "sure, what's up?"
you take a deep breath, gathering your courage.
"do you ever feel like... like things between us are changing? like maybe we're more than just friends?"
there's a heartbeat of silence, and then vini smiles. it's not his usual playful grin, but something softer, more vulnerable.
"yeah, i've felt that too," he admits.
your heart leaps into your throat. "you have?"
"yeah," he says again, reaching for your hand. his fingers lace with yours, and it's like everything falls into place. "i didn't want to say anything because i was scared of making you uncomfortable and ruining what we have. but... i can't pretend anymore.”
"me neither," you whisper, squeezing his hand. "i don't want to lose you, vini. but i think—i think i might be falling for you."
he leans in, his forehead resting against yours.
"good," he murmurs. "because i've already fallen."
the kiss is inevitable.
it's been building for weeks, maybe even months, and when his lips finally meet yours, it's like every little piece falls into place. there's no awkwardness, no hesitation. just you and vini, finally crossing that line.
the days that follow are a tornado of emotions. you thought things might be weird, but it's like nothing's changed and everything's changed all at once. you still spend your days together, laughing and joking and being ridiculous. but now there are stolen kisses, secret smiles, and the knowledge that you're his and he's yours.
one evening, you're at a party with some of vini's teammates. they're all dancing and having a good time, and you and vini are tucked away in a corner, watching the chaos.
"you know," says rodrygo, one of vini's closest friends, as he sidles up to you both, "we were all waiting for this to happen."
you blink at him, surprised. "what do you mean?"
"you two," he says, waving a hand between you and vini. "it's been obvious for ages that you belong together. we're just glad you finally figured it out."
you laugh, feeling a blush creep up your cheeks. "was it really that obvious?"
"oh, totally," he says with a grin. "you guys are made for each other."
vini wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you close. "he's right, you know," he murmurs in your ear. "we are."
and you believe him.
because being with vini feels right in a way you can't explain. it's like you've found the missing piece of yourself, and now that it's in place, everything else makes sense.
one night, a few weeks later, you're lying in bed together. vini's fingers are tracing patterns on your skin, and you feel a sense of peace you never thought possible.
"do you ever think about the future?" you ask quietly.
vini's hand stills, and he looks at you, his expression serious. "all the time," he says. "i think about us. what we could be."
"and what do you see?" you ask, holding your breath.
"i see us happy," he says, his voice firm. "i see us supporting each other, loving each other. i see you in the stands, cheering me on. i see us building a life together."
tears prick at your eyes because it's everything you've ever wanted. "i see that too," you whisper.
he kisses you, and it's like sealing a promise. you know there will be challenges ahead—there always are. but with vini by your side, you feel like you can face anything.
the weeks turn into months, and your relationship grows stronger every day. you're still best friends, but now there's a deeper connection, a bond that goes beyond friendship. you support each other, cheer each other on, and when things get tough, you know you have each other to lean on.
