Misc. Headcanons: Evelynn
When it comes to demonology, most poor peasants misidentify Evelynn as something like a succubus due to her preferred method of seducing and then killing her targets. However, calling Evelynn a succubus is not correct. Evelynn is the Demon of Agony. Excruciating pain, whether that be mental or psychological, is the only thing she can find nourishment in. Over the many centuries, her body and her hunting methods have evolved and adapted precisely to ensure a steady supply of this one food source.
Evelynn is actually a member of the Ten Primordian Demons, as the sensation of pain is a primal feeling, whether people like to admit that or not. However, many scholars either do not identify her as one or count her among her brothers and sisters because she is much younger than the others. Evelynn does have a mild grudge against Fiddlesticks because of this, but mainly because she covets his much larger hunting grounds and frightened prey.
However, the occult, aka people like Locke's family, do count her as a Primordian Demon. Among the occult, Evelynn is considered to be one of the Unhuntable Ones: Demons with such great power and danger towards others that trying to hunt, especially with the intention to kill them, is downright suicidal.
Evelynn fine-tuned her body to ensure proper hunting and long-lasting feedings for herself. Among these special adaptations is her saliva, which is a mixture of a painkiller and an aphrodisiac. Not only does her saliva ensure Evelynn can torture and dismember someone to the point that their wounds should have long sent them to an early grave, but the aphrodisiac quality of her spit means that people never fully come down from the high of arousal if she does not want them to.
Evelynn's feet do not resemble heels, even if she looks like she runs in heels from a distance. Instead, Evelynn has five claws on her feet with a slim dew claw higher up her leg. The remaining claws are shorter and a bit sturdier, as well as more flexible, compared to the sharp talons on her hands. That is because these claws are designed to allow Evelynn to climb up trees and often specifically drag bodies up behind her on branches. Outside of the fact that her lashers have a mild form of sentience and their own maws, those same lashers are strong enough to carry a grown man.
Evelynn prefers carrying humans up trees if she happens to catch them outside of their settlements. She mostly does this so she can feast on their pain undisturbed and not have to worry about any potential of being exposed to other demons or hunters out in the open. She tends to use her hate spikes to pierce her targets upon branches, much like butcher birds skewer mice and small rodents. Often her prey is still alive when this happens. Even Evelynn's one-night-stands die slow and painful deaths, often lasting for hours into the early morning.
Evelynn has shifted two of her toe claws together on occasion to form a larger sickle-like claw. While she can and has used this type of claw for torture against humans, this claw actually is there to aid her when it comes to taking down bigger targets. Evelynn is an opportunistic hunter due to her demonic danger and has feasted on not just human pain, but also on the agony of dragons and other larger creatures. For that purpose, she sometimes even takes on the form of the other monster and performs necessary mating steps or courting rituals to get them close enough before she can fall upon them and tear them to shreds.
Evelynn tends to prefer going after humans or more sentient and advanced creatures than the larger monsters like dragons, as she finds the hunting process of going after monsters rather tedious and not as engaging. The simplicity of it all can get rather boring, but Evelynn also will not object to the more mundane hunting method if it fills her belly. When it comes to what types of humans Evelynn covets, she tends to prefer the happy ones, as breaking them adds another level of entertainment for her. However, there are certain types of agony which flavor she already likes, so she might choose them over her go-to option. Shauna Vayne is such a case where a specific brand of agony draws Evelynn more than the safer alternative.
Evelynn does not understand the deeper aspects of what it means to be a human. She cannot even taste human food; in fact, everything falls to ash in her mouth. Evelynn has no deeper concept of love, of relationships, of commitments; even something as basic as kinks is something she does not understand. She understands kinks are things people do in bed because they find them arousing, but she does not get why they work.
Any seemingly human behaviour on Evelynn's part is mere mimicry, designed to get her prey either to her or to keep it close. Evelynn has no deeper understanding of companionship, but she is really good at mimicking what type of companion you might need in this moment. At the end of the day, Evelynn's actions serve one purpose only: To get her prey's guard down, so she can eat. She does not care about whatever human conventions she has to shallowly imitate to get to that goal.
Evelynn only sees the world in terms of prey and predator. She considers most humans nothing more than prey, and even then, she often devours them in a single night. However, if Evelynn sees you as a threat to herself or, worse, your pain has a flavour she actually wants to experience for longer, you are in for a much worse experience. Evelynn is normally an incredibly impatient hunter, killing relatively fast and brutally. However, if she feels like you are worth keeping alive in whatever shape or form she deems fit, not only does she have the patience to do so, but also the knowledge. Evelynn's prey already die a slow and painful death. Now, just imagine how much worse it is if she decides to deliberately draw it out for months, if not years.
