violet trefusis in a letter to vita sackville-west, 23 august 1920
All I wanted to do was read some love letters between Vita Sackville-West (left) and Violet Trefusis née Keppel (right) and then I went into a rabbit hole of all the connections between the British aristocracy. The family tree is a circle.
One of Vita’s many suitors married Mary, Princess Royal, daughter of George V & Mary Teck. (left)
Violet’s mother Alicia Keppel (right) was a descendant of Charles II. She was also a longtime mistress of King Edward VII.
And is also the great grandmother of Camilla through her other daughter Sonia, whose daughter Rosalind is Camilla’s mother.
She's lazy and human, and would never climb as high as the gods. They'd have to come down to her.
