🔥 TRPGs
hell yeah, let’s do this.
i thought about going over every system i’ve played but i can’t possibly have unpopular opinions on all of them. maybe i’ll just write about those in some other post somewhere.
anyway, my unpopular opinion is that in some ways i still prefer Pathfinder 1e to D&D 5e. mostly in that the depth of character building in 5e is still a little disappointing to me - there’s a lot of subclasses where your build is just “get one thing every few levels and maybe eventually choose a feat”. some parts also just feel oversimplified or missing, like how the skills you pick at level 1 are usually the only ones you get forever. honestly, i just like all the options in PF because i like getting to make choices whenever a character levels instead of just getting the next thing on a list.
would i wish GMing PF on anyone? no. would i play it again, given the chance? hell yes i would. fortunately, from the little Pathfinder 2e i’ve run, it seems to deliver on exactly what i’d want in a dndlike - lots of character options but in a game that is actually playable.
(i do like 5e still, mind, but i don’t want to ramble about everything i do and do not like about any given system in this post)
