Some sort of space AU, like where each clone rules a separate galaxy or something (your writing is so pretty)
1. Rachel’s world is full of cold stares followed immediately by averted eyes; whispers follow her closer than her own shadow as the people bow their heads to her in mockery of respect. Her honor guard watches, tense, for any flickers of movement, but Rachel knows that the seeds of rebellion have already been planted, sown, and sprouted somewhere else. The envoy is surely on its way.
2. Alison runs a small town on one of the lesser moons in Rachel’s empire, a town of order and efficiency with reliable outputs of various households goods (they’re known throughout the system for their soap) and smuggling. Her town is in the center of the empire’s fastest growing smuggling ring, one that none of Rachel’s dogs has managed to pin down yet.
3. Cosima is a researcher in the bionics and biometrics lab. Her specialty is human enhancement (generally prosthetics for the engineering subcomponent and gene therapy for the wet lab portion), but they’re being pushed ever closer to weaponization. A new team of scientists has been hired without her permission or even prior knowledge with the sole purpose of adapting their genius technology into firepower. Cosima is torn between risking her life and all possible hope for subtle rebellion and barging into Rachel’s office to demand a shut down of the new facility.
4. She contacts Alison, and through Alison, a team of smugglers is dispatched to disrupt the process in any way possible short of destroying the property (because, of course, Cosima still has to work there).
5. Sarah is a ship jockey, bouncing from system to system doing various odd jobs on the gray side of legality. It’s her first time in this particular system, though she’d heard tell of the valiant (but pitiful) rebellion taking root; moreover, she’d heard about how much a certain scientist would be willing to pay for the destruction of very, very valuable machines (what’s done with the parts is of no concern to her), and that’s all Sarah needs to hear to dive right in.
