a glare. lola’s impatience is easily read in her form and her tone, though it earns her nothing more than a scolding. as much as he might try to shirk the moniker of dad, he can’t deny his occasional need to micromanage that seems to border on mollycoddling.
“ I’m not mothering, ” he replies sharply. “ I’m making sure you don’t forget anything. if we don’t account for something and it comes back to us, that’s more work for me. ”
he pushes up his glasses, huffing.

he had been saved from the thing but it’s not so willing to let him go. SUPERHOT, as they understand it now, is possessive of those it deems its tools. he knows lola’s vigil is as much about protection as it is about concern— one close call is too many, james argues. they had been saved by freak accident, and none of them trust in luck enough to allow it to keep him safe from SUPERHOT finishing the job.
