Blue-mountain: quite secretive and typically detected first by vocalization- which may be difficult, as this vireo's song sounds more like a frog or insect than a bird

Gray: Overwintering birds sometimes pair up and guard a territory, which is unusual for migratory birds

Black-capped: this is the only species of vireo to show sexual dimorphisim- males have a striking black cap while females caps are gray.

Brown-capped: with a song that sounds incredibly similar to the Warbling Vireo, some people believe these species to be conspecific (the same)

Plumbeous: the drabbest of the "Solitary Vireo" complex, completely devoid of any yellow compared to their cousins

Philadelphia: told from the very similar Warbling Vireo by how much cuter it is- having bigger eyes on a small head and round body do contribute to this bird's (scientifically proven) cute appearance

Tepui: with only 270 sightings on eBird and 10 photos, this is our least "reported" vireo in the tourney
