Thinking about Virgil and Cadenza and their life in New Meteli
During the fifteen years that everyone in the Irene Dimension is Presumed Dead, Virgil helps Cadenza rebuild New Meteli. They were already on good terms with Hayden, but when they asked Cadenza's hand in marriage, he truly considered them family.
The wedding is a village-wide affair, and they invited as many people from Phoenix Drop as they could get letters to. Virgil is pleasantly surprised that their old boss, Logan, bothers to come (though Donna tells them later he dropped everything to be there). There were empty chairs left at the front for their family that had passed. And thus begins married life in New Meteli.
Virgil operates the village forge after they decide to retire from courier-ing. They make tools, weapons, and other goods to sell to neighboring villages while Cadenza is voted in as Lord. She's new and inexperienced, but her council is quick to guide her, and her father provides as much wisdom as he can before time catches up to him.
There's a graveyard on the edge of town. When someone dies, the village mourns, and they are laid to rest there. There are a handful of honorary graves. Lady Aphmau, Ungrth, and Laurance all have one. On the anniversary of their disappearance, Cadenza leaves flower crowns for her best friend and brother, and Virgil lights candles for the wyvern who taught them to love humanity.
