Ruins' Open Day is finally here, and Charmonroe is invited!
But Ai can't come.
The two are upset since both were looking forward to exploring the new technology, but electronics aren't allowed, and Ai has to use a device to travel with Charmonroe.
But that doesn't stop her from trying.
Ai contacts a friend of hers from one of the smaller islands in Ruins. They manage to get Ai access to the internet there, and Ai is able to hack some of the devices there to sneak into the Main Island for Open Day. She surprises Charmonroe, and the two look forward to spending the rest of their time together.
But that doesn't last long.
Soon, Ai's memory is hacked. Something else is trying to take over her consciousness - it's Glow. The Administrative AI found her and takes over her form. Glow uses this to contact Nikki and the others to come to the central tower. Ai is "unconscious" and waiting for someone to revive her.
But will they come in time?
Connections
-This chapter takes place right before the events of the Void Stardust hell event.
-In Vol. 2 Ch. 11, Nikki and friends go to Ruins' Open Day to find Mercury, and they ask Ai to help her find him. We learn in Caprico's story for Future Indicator that Mercury Group is coordinating with Glow and a secret team on their "special project" (Ideal City).
-Ai calls her Ruins friend Nicka - but since she is from Whale Island, and works with mechas, it's possible this is actually Netga, from Speedy Bunny.
Fun Facts
-Glow thinks emotions are unnecessary, but Ai recognizes them as the driving force behind why humans do what they do.
-Ai usually designs school uniforms. However, for Ruins' Open Day, she chooses a more scientific, streamlined uniform.
