This is based upon the third option, based on the visualization of biopower. That being the erasure of minorities and marginalized groups through the systems set in place. I tried to visualize the reaching out to become apart of a society, and over-looming answer of NO that is constantly at the forefront of the pleads for rights.

I think the concept of Biopower is poignantly eye-opening and valid. What I took away from Stryker’s essay about this concept was how those in higher positions of power feel threatened by those who don’t conform to their beliefs and customs so they deliberately hinder that person’s ability to obtain freedom. Therefore, I think visualizing a caged bird is a valid way to interpret this concept. A bird is unable to free itself and control their destiny if its imprisoned and I think this could, perhaps, represent how the “undesirable/nonnormative” people may have felt when their agency was tampered with by those associated with the Biopower philosophy.

Biopower- the practice of modern nation statea and their regulation of their subjects through “an explosion of numerous and diverse techniques for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations”

Biopower allows institutionalized prejudices to exist. It’s what keeps Trans people from being able to participate in society or even be seen as human.

When I saw that Cincinnati passed a law as recently as 1974, I was shocked. The fact that any of these laws still exist is absurd to me. I don’t understand why lawmakers think they can control what we put in our bodies. I wasn’t familiar with how these old laws are used against trans people today. ‘The Walking Whiles Trans Ban Is Stop and Frisk 2.0’ by Karina Piser was eye-opening. Trans people face enough struggles and knowing that they get policed for how they are dressed is very disheartening.

Here is a piece of 3d art. I tried to convey a feeling of being trapped within the body. it was very difficult to make this as I had never attempted 3d art before. but i'm very proud of the final product.Happy halloween month
