Die Geschichte Vlads ist nicht unbedingt eine schöne Geschichte, obwohl es immerhin Phasen gibt, in denen es ihm ziemlich gut ging. Aber Dank der Osmanen hatte er doch einiges mit sich herumzutragen. Spannend geschrieben ist es auf jeden Fall, schon ab der ersten Seite zieht die Story einen in seinen Bann. Da wird dann auch klar, wie Bram Stoker auf die Idee kam. Denn irgendetwas hatte Vlad, dass die Menschen ihn entweder bewundern oder lieben ließen.

12th December 1408, foundation of the military Order of the Dragon by King of Hungary Emperor Sigismund, and his wife Queen Barbara of Celje. The Prince of Wallachia Vlad II Dracul, father of Vlad the Impaler, took his name from the Order which required its initiates to defend the cross and fight the enemies of Christianity, namely the Ottoman Empire. Another prominent Hungarian family also included the heraldry of the order into their coat of arms.
