After trying a replacement stylus on the original cart, then trying a Nagaoka MP110, then trying an entirely new turntable; it seems that coming back to the 70s Hitachi with an Audio Technica VM540ml is the winning scenario. Only a few records in and I feel very satisfied. Vinyl can be a real bitch. So many things can be wrong. When it's right, it's the best.
