Ok so Vanitas has a new fit….. where’d he get it from? 👀

SOOOoo i'm guessing the new fit in question is from this post. The images above are the full set of armor that Vanitas acquires which will be explained a bit below.

The whole reason he has this new fit is based on my rabbit hole of a headcannon I have, which would make this ask a VERY long post if I got into its details. The short answer will probably leave you with a lot more questions as he received his new threads from Master Yen Sid. Ya boy goes through a redemption arch post Kingdom Hearts 3. I see Vanitas in this headcannon as the incomplete half of Ventus. As long as Ventus lives Vanitas can't truly die. Sora being Sora tries to see the good in Vanitas and its a struggle for Vanitas who only sees himself as darkness.

Down this rabbit hole of the storyline. Ventus and Vanitas come to terms with their shared past and forgive. Vanitas is gifted his own keyblade armor set by Ventus which he wears on his left bicep and the shoes. The armor is more of a symbol of forgiveness than anything because originally, keyblade armor is supposed to help defend against darkness when traversing between different worlds. The shoulder guard and shoes are heavily inspired by the talented @yung-rage who made some keyblade armor designs that you should totally check out.

I just had the mental image of a six-armed Sora pentuple-wielding Oathkeeper, Oblivion, Wayward Wind, Void Gear, and the Kingdom Key, floating menacingly towards a very terrified Xehanort, with the caption of "There are Benefits to the Heart Hotel."

I wrote a dragon AU! In which Keyblade wielders have dragons instead of Keyblades, and then I was very much overcome with the urge to draw said dragons. So here's my design for Void Gear!

If someone ever writes fanfiction or makes fanart of AU stuff where Vanitas is given more (redeemable) characteristics and/or his own arc to become a better person, I think his Keyblade should be End of Pain, the one from Dream Drop Distance:

I think it fits him well, color scheme and theme wise, especially with the things he faced in the Birth By Sleep novel where Xehanort did many horrible things to him. It even keeps the Gazing Eye motif from his Void Gear/Xehanort’s No Name as well as a similar-yet-different animal motif from No Name:
