This Week On The Internet #79
This week's higlights include:
x. Kids Will Start Asking for iPads
x. Neiman Marcus Likes to Play Games
x. The Beastie Boys Would Be Considered Early Adopters
Enjoy!
FOOD/TECH: The App That Likes to Eat
It may just be the best news we've heard this week (second to hearing that Tina Fey is making appearance at an NYC Barnes and Noble later tonight) this app that tracks food carts. Roaming Hunger maps various cities, like Atlanta and Chicago, and collects real-time tweets and calendars to effectively track their vendors.

TECH/ART: Become Your Own Little Figurine with XBox Kinect
In Barcelona, a group of artists from blablablab.org installed a street stand where people can post infront of a camera that reads their figure and then carves them into a take-away figurine. The artists used openFrameworks and openKinect in order to develop the installation. This is definitely a better souvenir than those flattened pennies.

FASHION: Neiman Marcus Likes to Play Games
Neiman Marcus has partnered with SCVNGR for their first mobile interactive initiative, coinciding with the start of their Big Night Out campaign. Users engage in Neiman Marcus-centric challenges and win prizes like makeovers and giftcards. Not bad for their first app!

MUSIC: Beastie Boys Become Relevant Again
One more reason to love the Beastie Boys: they posted their new song, "Make Some Noise" to their Tumblr account. In the past, bands have used MySpace, Facebook and YouTube to feature their music, but Tumblr is quickly becoming the place to be for mp3s...and pretty much everything else you can think of.

TECH: Kids Read
'Timbuktu' is being introduced as the world's first iPad magazine for kids. It's much of the same- simple language and colorful graphics, yet instead of flipping through pages, you scroll. Does this mean kids will now start carrying around iPads? Kids these days. Sheesh.
