Hello All,
We are looking for the right person for a winter, full-time, live-in volunteer position at the Carbon River Ranger Station. This position primarily staffs the station, but there will be some flexibility for patrol of area trails and roads.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Familiarity with trails and roads in the park and the surrounding forest
Providing information to visitors, and educating on the principles of “Leave No Trace’
Answering phone calls and disseminating park-specific information
Issuing wilderness camping permits
Orienting park visitors to where they are in relation to the rest of the park and providing directions
Assists East District staff with patrol coverage of front country and back country areas to include Carbon River and Mowich
Access to government computers required (need to have active PIV/computer access)
Current valid driver's license
The relatively new quarters has a full kitchen and washer/dryer in the basement. Housing is not generally shared in winter. The VIP would need to work a minimum 32 hours a week, with all housing costs covered by the park. It is a uniformed position.
The position runs from early November until early May, but is negotiable. Schedule determined by Carbon River VUA/Ranger Supervisor Jim Hull.
If interested, submit a one page resume to
. Please provide a recent reference or two.
It's national girlfriend day and I don't have a girlfriend, so if someone wants to volunteer I wouldn't be upset...
Help Wanted: shipping co-ordinator
So far, we have a lot of interest, to the point that this is most likely going to be a thick art book rather than a thin zine. I also am already seeing more interest in getting it than I expected. With that in mind, to reduce costs, I am looking for someone to help coordinate shipping in the United States, rather than either importing it from the US into Canada (where I live) and shipping back out, or printing it here in Canada and paying a lot for what will mostly be an American audience.
I’m looking for someone who is
Is a legal adult
Lives in the United States (Pennsylvania would be a bonus as the shop I’m looking to have printing done is located there)
Can show a history of reliable shipping (Shop, eBay, Kickstarter, Zine..)
Is willing to help store and ship out (with the postage and supplies paid for by the zine) 300+ zines over December or January
Because this is a non-profit zine, I can’t compensate besides a copy of the zine and a credit in the zine (I’m also volunteering my time). Please send any applications to [email protected]
(If I don’t get one the zine will still go on, never fear!)
