FFXIVWrite Prompt #2: Sway

The darkspace between reflections has always fascinated Vrba. All these crystals, floating, and an endless expanse of the Void. Nothingness, yet...not.

She has the position to appreciate them as Themis crosses her arms, casting a glance around the vast meeting space the Ascians seem to have agreed to use.

With the recent deaths, the Convocation has been in a degree of disarray. The perfect space for a black-masked Pentacle to make herself indispensable to those who are left. She has been ever faithful in her service of Halmarut, and with the Convocation's numbers slimming, she asks for the boon of traversal across the rift. Perhaps the Eighth Reflection would suit her purposes, or the First? The Source is ever a difficult proposition, delicate as it is.

This body would have to traverse the rift with her, of course. A difficult proposition, to be certain, but not impossible. The Warrior of Light has achieved such a feat, after all. And this particular host body offers certain...advantages, over a new host. A willing form is difficult to come by, after all, and Themis has found her powers growing with the form's willing obedience. Her own vast aether augmented by Vrba's paltry offerings.

It would only be practical to orchestrate a way for both to traverse the rift together. More effort, to be sure, but she feels that the Chalice and the Sword have been slacking, of late. And the Staff...well. The less said about him, the better.

She could so ably serve, if only given the opportunity...

 If Vrba had control over their shared body (no; Themis's body, Vrba corrects herself. Vrba was simply its previous occupant, who is allowed a presence here by her divine mercy) she would smirk. Grin. Roll her eyes. Her darling has ever been a sweet-talker, and she's laying it on a little thick at the moment. It seems to be being effective, though.

The red-masked Ascian crosses their arms. They say they will consider it. It's as close to a yes as they're likely to receive today. Mentally, Vrba jumps for joy, and Themis allows a small smile to cross her lips. She covers it behind her own sigil, bowing her head. "Thank you, my Paragon."

With that, she's dismissed. Traversing space and reality, and appearing once more in their home in the Fourth Reflection.

Some would question the need for an Ascian to have a home. But Vrba always had one - and it seemed a waste to leave it behind when she took her place as Themis's host. It's quiet. It suits their needs nicely.

Themis pulls her hood down, sighing happily. Her ears wiggle in the open air, freed from the restrictions of that ridiculously impractical hood. Really, ear pockets? It's just so absurd.

Her mask follows, dropped on to the table, as she stretches. "We did it, my darling," she says, voice low and sultry. Seductive. Vrba feels a shudder run through her - or she would, had she the control to do such a thing.

"True, it may not be a yes just yet, but...we shall traverse the rift together yet, mark my words. I shall find a way for us to achieve our shared dreams. To have you ascend by my side."

Themis's robes fall away, and she lifts the tailcoat they'd mutually left hanging on the coat rack. Slips it on, humming a little as she smooths the collar. "I would say this warrants a celebration. Wouldn't you agree?" She holds her hand out, as if reaching out to someone else.

And her control relinquishes. Vrba releases a breath, hand shaking. She giggles, all anxious excitement. "I would like that, Themis."

Good. Shall we dance, pet?

Vrba hums happily, practically gliding to the record player and starting it going. The other reflections are truly barbaric, in her opinion. Orchestrions? Awful.

The sound of orchestral music fills the room, and Vrba begins to move. Flowing, gliding, spinning. Her eyes drift closed, and her hands reach out to her invisible partner.

Within minutes, they reach a crescendo, and Vrba dips low, tailcoat swooping and her hands cradling another who is not there.

Her eyes open, and she catches sight of herself in the mirror.

Themis's sigil glows on her face, just for a moment.

Were you showing off for me?

"Oh, perish the thought. Naught I could do would compare to your natural brilliance, my love."

She beams at her own reflection, and feels darkness like nails scratching down her spine. It feels like belonging. It feels like love.
